No serious game development shop is going to invest in porting large games to Mac for a fractional marketshare, the vast majority of whom bought those laptops for work and so they're not even looking to game with them. Apple has a long road ahead if they want to compete in the console gaming space.
Then again, no serious game development shop is going to ignore the fact that mobile gaming is THE largest revenue stream in gaming today. I think you're going to see more and more of what 2K is doing with the NBA2K series on Apple Arcade: the console/PC versions have all the bells/whistles, but the core game is playable on the entirety of Apple's device lineup. It's a way of further expanding revenue that can be made from AAA games and blurring the line between mobile/AAA audiences.
Put the M1 MAX in the next AppleTV, include a MFi controller in every box, bump SSD options to 512GB or higher (or auto-unload oldest games without losing user data), cap the starting price at $400, throw money at game devs (the way AppleTV+ is courting original content producers), and you have a serious game console.
