A Virginia woman has been stalking Tim Cook for more than a year

A restraining order has been granted to Apple, because CEO Tim Cook has been stalked by a Virginia woman who not just broke into his home, but also emailed him photos of a loaded firearm.

The Cupertino tech giant has been granted a restraining order against the woman, who allegedly stalked Cook for more than a year, Mercury News reported on Tuesday.

In its application with the court, Apple accused the woman of "erratic, threatening, and bizarre behavior." Apple also claimed that it believes the woman could be armed, is currently in the South Bay Area, and "intends to return to (Cook's) residence or locate him otherwise in the near future."

The restraining order prohibits the woman from possessing guns, approaching any Apple employees, entering any Apple property, and going to Cook's residence in the Palo Alto area.

Apple made the request on Thursday and a judge granted it in Friday. The Santa Clara County Superior Court made the order public on Monday.

Cook reportedly first learned of the woman's obsession with him via Twitter. The Virginia woman, who used the last name "Cook" on the social media platform, claimed that she was Cook's wife and that the Apple chief executive was the father to her two twins.

Between October and mid-November 2020, the woman reportedly emailed Cook around 200 times. Apple claimed in its court filing that the messages showed a "significant escalation in tone," with later messages becoming "threatening and highly disturbing."

Some of the messages contained images of a revolver and ammunition. In at least one message, the woman said her patience was "almost done."

According to the court filings, the woman also began registering fake companies with "highly offensive corporate names" with Cook named as an officer, director, or agent.

The application names the subject as a 45-year-old Virginia woman. The Mercury News did not disclose her identity, but reported that her Twitter account also made reference to Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.

By September 2021, the woman "became obsessed" with Cook's condo in Palo Alto and even sent the Apple executive an email applying to be his roommate. She even showed up to Cook's home in October 2021 and approached security. She was told to leave and complied, but eventually returned and waited in her car.

When Palo Alto police officers responded, the woman was stopped while attempting to flee. She told police that she was staying in the Palo Alto area and "could get violent."

Officers did not find any evidence of weapons in her car, but did confiscate the vehicle because the woman's driver's license was expired.

Meanwhile, she continued emailing Cook. A week before Christmas 2021, she demanded hundreds of millions of dollars from the Apple executive. Another email from a few days later reportedly contained violent language.

Palo Alto police said there is not a currently active investigation related to the incident.

A hearing about the matter is slated for March 29.

This is a direct consequence of society’s cowardice in not making sure people get the medication that they need. It’s not compassionate to let someone refuse treatment (when their disorder prevents them from having the insight to accept treatment), then go on to ruin their lives, and possibly others. Same
thing is happening to thousands of homeless people. Society is failing our severely mentally ill population.

She is completely twisted and insane and I hope she gets a really long time in jail as soon as possible. Let me add something to the discussion here, though, a part of the story which I don’t understand: ”[…] claimed that she was Cook's wife and that the Apple chief executive was the father to her two twins”.

Isn’t the first step to scamming people, to actually tell a convincing or plausible story? He definitely, obviously, 100 % does not have a wife. Yeah, I know, she’s sick and lives in a fantasy world.

I wonder what triggered her action beside being a psychotic. Probably no different from those mass shooters.

The shocking news here is Tim Cook lives in a CONDO? He could literally afford to buy Palo Alto. Let’s hope they up his security detail. Better safe than sorry.

    “. . . by a Virginia woman who not just broke into his home, . . .”
I’m curious about this from the first line of the article. How did she actually get into his home?

Well-known CEOs of major companies have to to deal with kind of sh** all the time. Sadly, many -- including, I'll bet, Cook, but he can't talk about it -- have ended up requiring Presidential-style security detail, isolating and insulating then from their customers, employees, suppliers... or even just walking down the street, or going to a restaurant. Their families often require protection too.

It's a frikkin' sad state of political and social affairs in this country, at so many different levels.

It seems, based on Apple's restraining order petition and the accompanying declaration of Apple's security specialist, that she didn't actually break into his house. She just got onto the property.

First hand experience with a sibling. Because they're an adult we have no power to ensure they take the medications needed. Once stoped they go into a rabid state of accusing everyone of conspiring against them. The smallest thing (offering to go out to lunch) would cause a trigger. Once triggered it's nothing but constant threats and harassment. We're paying for their home/bills to ensure they don't end up in the streets, but constant fights with neighbors means they'll get evicted and in the streets anyway. We're devastated and powerless.

Mental health is completely and utterly ignored in this country.

Funniest thing I read this week, I was literally laughing.

claimed that she was Cook's wife and that the Apple chief executive was the father to her two twins.

Does she not know that he’s gay? All that stalking and obsession you’d think she at some point in her journey found a reference to that fact. Too funny!

    I had the same thought.
One thought; I wonder if the twins are as imaginary as the rest of it.

It's always struck me as stramge that health insurance almost never thinks the mind or the teeth are health related.

    Asking for a friend?
Why would they ever divulge that information when it  could possibly give other criminals bad ideas?
