iOS 16 will have refreshed Apple apps but look the same as iOS 15

Apple's shift to iOS 16 will introduce many major changes to the mobile operating system, a report claims, but it will still apparently look a lot like iOS 15 in terms of design.

Apple is preparing to unveil its next generation of operating systems during the WWDC 2022 keynote on June 6, prompting rumors as to what will be unveiled. In speculation ahead of the developer conference, Apple is thought to be gearing up for big changes, but with a familiar appearance.

"Major changes across the system" will be introduced, according to Mark Gurman in the "Power On" newsletter for Bloomberg. The changes will include "new ways of interacting and some fresh Apple apps," but Gurman stops short in saying what will actually change.

Despite the new elements, Gurman doesn't expect Apple to "present a full redesign of the software," indicating iOS 16 should stay relatively similar to iOS 15 in its general design aesthetic.

Along with iOS updates, Gurman adds that news about watchOS 9 "will be significant as well," but again declines to specify what. Previous rumors about watchOS 9 include an an always-available low-power mode, an extension of existing atrial fibrillation features, and more workout types and running metrics.

In other words, Apple has some new updates to their operating systems, but we’ll just have to wait to find out what they are?
So, just like every other year then?
    Riveting report, Gurman.

Would be a lot better if it looked more like iOS 6.  Every release after 6 has looked like garbage.  Flat is fugly.

So glad this guy brought his crystal ball to work. This could easily have be copied and pasted from nearly every prior release, and it would still be true.

I’d love it to go 3D. I’ve hated flat since iOS 7.

Um, maybe an actual rumor? Did you see any rumor there? No, neither did any of the people above you.

So basically the prediction here is that iOS 16 will exist.  Amazing.

The flat look is good for the most part, but damn that Safari icon drags the average way down.
