One of the UK's largest cell networks, Three, has announced that cellular Apple Watch owners on the service, can share their iPhone's number.

Cellular deals for Apple Watch had already taken a surprisingly long time to emerge in countries such as New Zealand, but now they've reached the major UK operator, Three. Its new package deal is called Smartwatch Pairing, and Three is offering six months free.

"With our Smartwatch Pairing Plan," says the company, "you can connect your smartwatch to your phone on Three."

"You'll be able to share your call, text, and data allowance between the two," it continues, "and leave your phone at home."

The new plan requires an iPhone 6s or later, and an Apple Watch Series 3 GPS + Cellular, or later. As well as the initial six months free, Three is offering Apple Fitness+ for three months.

After the free period, it will cost the equivalent of $8.60 per month for an existing Apple Watch. Three is also doing deals selling Apple Watch Series 7, and Apple Watch SE, in packages from $15 per month on top of cellphone prices.

As a British person reporting about a British network, shouldn't you be calling it a 'Mobile Network' and not a 'Cell Network'? Also in the UK, it’s a Mobile phone, not a cellphone!

As a Three customer, I went through the sign up process. It looked like it was going to work.

I'll take my 6 month trial at some point I think, but I doubt I'll keep it. At £7 (yes UK money) a month it is more expensive than my contract at £6 a month (4 GB data unlimited texts and calls)! #notgreatvalue
