Apple plans health and wellness experiences for Apple AR headset

Internal Apple demonstrations of its planned Apple AR technology have reportedly concentrated on wellbeing, such as meditation.

Four sources, as reported by the typically reliable "The Information," have spoken of Apple's plans to allow users to create and sell their own AR apps. At the same time, they have also revealed some elements of Apple's vision for what such headsets will be used for.

As it ultimately has done with the Apple Watch, the company is reportedly focusing on health. It's specifically emphasizing wellbeing features such as exercise and meditation.

Reportedly, an early demo for Apple executives had a headset helping a wearer believe they were sitting in a Zen garden.

Other demos conducted within Apple include a walk-through version of Dr Seuss's "Oh, the Places You'll Go" book. Three sources told The Information that the book's fantastical environments become merged with the real world.

Apple has yet to announce its AR devices, but it's expected to launch at least the first one in 2023. It's also entering a market that does already have Meta, but remains ill-defined.

The Information has a decent track record as it pertains to reports like this, surrounding Apple's software plans and internal demonstrations. It generally does not speculate on timetables for release.

It seems like that defeats the whole point of meditating.

These rumors are starting to pick up in pace. It reminds me of just before the Apple Watch was announced. It feels more and more like a spring unveiling.

I can't see myself getting an AR/VR device anytime soon, but I'll keep an open mind about it. Apple Fitness+ and other similar services could probably leverage it to encourage people who work out at home.

In America get ready for the lawsuits from various obscure medical industry companies that you have never heard of and if you have they currently make devices, and machines that are the size of a baby elephant inside of a hospital room.

Once Apple introduces a device/software that is miniaturize with software functionality look out Apple will be sued left and right by the old guard, which had no intention of going further in their design other than that baby elephant.

I seem to remember when Apple introduced the Apple Watch, their idea was that it was a fashion accessory.
    That didn’t go well.
So, we’ll see what the AR headset actually ends up as.

I don't think the VR market is "ill defined" at all.  And yes, I've read the other article.

The market seems very well defined: the vast majority of consumer use is for gaming.

I meditate with my eyes closed so I don't see much using in the illusion I'm at a zen garden?? Still curious to try it tho
