Is FaceID a ticking time bomb?

I have 3 phones now where FaceID broke exactly a month and 3 years after purchase.

Is this common? I guess people who change phones every 2 years don't mind, but I had intentionally gotten the biggest 11 Pro and serviced its battery recently so I can keep it for years. I don't want or need a new phone.

Now I probably have to get a new phone but it's either going to be an SE with TouchID, or an Android phone. I don't trust FaceID to reliably work longer periods of time.

There is nothing in Apple's service data that suggests, hints at, or supports your claim.
