Yes, ever notice that when a totalitarian dictatorship (Russia, China, Iran) is called out for being evil the usual suspects here come to their defense by saying “the West does it too”. It’s like death and taxes, you can count on them showing up almost immediately.
This is double truth. You never learn. Free world calls out China as totalitarian dictatorship. This is monism purely from the Western POV. They never want to understand what the majority of Chinese are thinking of their government. A totalitarian dictatorship? LOL
The double truth is Western civilization is different mainly different from the Eastern civilization as viewing total person freedom as human rights. Personal freedom resulted freedom of speech, speech that can be distorted, exaggerated, lies. There is no responsibility of ones speech whether is false. Chinese civilization view peace as utmost important. False speech will cause conflicts, disturbances and disable society. Chinese people think bad behavior is un-tolerable. The government tries very hard to regulate bad behavior. And this makes the West view China as totalitarian dictatorship. This is where double truth comes from.
For example. the accusation of Uyghurs genocide is founded from unproven claims. But Western leaders and media somehow view this accusation as truth. I see stupidity of Western culture here.

I agree that most Americans don't see that many of the things they hold against the Chinese government have been or are being done by their own government in a different way. For example, one only need to study the history of US involvement in Central and South America (as written by the people of those areas, not US history books) to see imperialism in a different form.
That being said, it is absolutely vital that we question and hold to account the leadership of all nations. Is what they're doing truly for the good of society? Or is it simply for personal gain and power? No one person or small leadership group should be able to make decisions without question, because no one is infallible and corruption is everywhere. While nothing would get done if there was a vote on every decision, there needs to be open and free debate. The people of a nation should get to decide its direction, not just a small group of people who think they know better than others. The fact that we can freely have this debate on this forum is a very good thing, and likely wouldn't be possible in nations with censorship and government controls.

Will you ever learn that "double truth" doesn't mean anything other than more truth?

China is in fact a authoritarian dictatorship, by definition, but only barely, so describing it as totalitarian isn't far from the mark.
As we can see, China is already totalitarian in five of the six traits developed by Brzezinski to determine a totalitarian regime. Only with regard to a centrally controlled economy do we find an authoritarian rather than a strict totalitarian structure. Human Rights Watch has been persuaded by this capitalist tilt to describe China as “a one-party authoritarian state that systemically curbs fundamental rights.” )The U.S. State Department says that “the People’s Republic of China (PRC) is an authoritarian state in which the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is the paramount authority.”
