It seems as if the Naked Mole Rat and Think Secret are the two best rumor sites, and by best I mean most accurate. I personally like, MacNN, LoopRumors, and Mac Rumors as well, although these sites seem to feed off of think secret quite a bit.

    Think Secret

Seems they have been the most accurate recently.

spymac? Hmm, OK, what have they gotten right? Think Secret seems pretty dead on 95% of the time, MacRumors doesn't predict, they mostly pass on info and some turns out to be right. MacWhispers gets the beef on left field type stuff that may take a while to come to fruition, so they are hard to gauge. Loop rumors I don't think has been right yet. ATAT used to be dead on, but they missed once or twice and went MIA recently.

No body else is really worth listening to AFAIK.

They were the only ones who nailed the new Powerbooks at MWSF this past January.

Personally, I go for LoopRumors and ThinkSecret (ocasionally sided with a RailHead design , just to see another source..i guess)

with SpyMac, i take all of what they say with a grain of salt, as with their initial iWalk tease... so.... I give them 10% truth for original work

My favorite is LoopRumors but just cos it looks prettier. The most accurate one seems to be without a doubt Mr dePlume's website. MacWhispers is still decent and MacRumors just seems to repeat what ThinkSecret reports. SpyMac's a joke.

But I read them all, anyways. hehe

I posted this is another thread. Maybe you'll want to rethink your positions on MacWhispers. I just don't find them have any more inside info than the average person, posting specualtion extrapolated from past happenings, and being wrong quite often, sometimes by quite a bit and sometimes with minor details, but if they actually had inside information you'd think they'd have access to the details. They seem to make up the time frames for release unless we all know when things are coming. Not all of these are completely wrong, but with educated guessing, you can't be completely wrong ALL the time.

MacWhispers 'confirmed the reality' of the Xserve RAID using S3200 Firewire and not a fibre channel

    http://www.envestco2.com/macwhisper...ives/000019.php

MacWhispers said new iPods in 45 days, with larger capacities, lower prices, FW800, and new backings

    http://www.envestco2.com/macwhisper...ives/000004.php

MacWhispers 'goes out on a limb' and predicted (on Jan 29th) new iPods within the next 30 days

    http://www.envestco2.com/macwhisper...ives/000018.php

Then, MacWhispers made an 'unequivocal prediction of an Apple product release,' the new line of iPods that didn't come out two months ago.

    http://www.envestco2.com/macwhisper...ives/000032.php

MacWhispers claimed (on Jan 27th) that the 'soon to be released iMacs' update would include frontside ports

    http://www.envestco2.com/macwhisper...ives/000012.php

MacWhispers claimed from 'multiple' sources that the new 15" iMacs would sport Airport Extreme (they [i]guessed correctly in the rest of the article)

    http://www.envestco2.com/macwhisper...ives/000009.php

MacWhispers gave (incorrect) display resolution of the 20" Cinema Display, also claiming that it is 20.1"

    http://www.envestco2.com/macwhisper...ives/000002.php

'From multiple OEM sources' MacWhispers gave 'final specs' on a whole brand new line-up of Cinema Displays to be released in 'no more than 45 days' (Jan 23rd)

    http://www.envestco2.com/macwhisper...ives/000005.php

MacWhispers' 'timetable' indicates the release of the new 15.4" PowerBook within no more than 30 days (from Jan 21s)

    http://www.envestco2.com/macwhisper...ives/000003.php

Anyway, this thread does not belong in future hardware.

yep - MacRumors doesn't have tons of original rumors... but the ones they do have seem to be pretty accurate

    17, 12 inch powerbooks

they were the first to post about the Apple music service - which now seems to be talked about eveywhere

and other specs along the way (superdrive powerbook)

which makes the most recent 'communicating device' rumor more interesting.

looprumors and macwhipsers seem to be the bottom of the barrel. macosrumors, of course in tail end.

Think Secret is quite accurate, but they dun update their rumours frequently.

MacOSrumors.com is good, thinksecret doesn't seem to go into as much detail as Macosrumors.

I make sense of what I get and put it on my site.

Idunno about MacOSrumors.com. I used to like them but I sorta get the feeling they make up what they post.
  • Reply 15 of 23
Think Secret and MacRumors are the most reliable. MacRumors also posted about the new iBooks just hours before they were released as well.

Think Secret has some sort of inside contact, because they were the only ones to get the upcoming text right during all the pre-G4 iMac stuff. Remember...

"Beyond the Rumor Sites. Way Beyond."

How many of you are still pissed at Apple about that?

It was fun while it lasted though. I wish Apple would do this sometime again (say before the WWDC) and this time have something that would really impress us.

Yeah, it was really fun getting hints from Apple. How long did they last? 3 or 4 days maybe?

I know it isn't a rumour site as such, but Maury @ railheaddesign seems to know when things are coming out. He seems to get the lowdown of all the mac os x point releases.
