It seems as if the web-designers are operating on the premise that... well... it doesn't seem that they have a premise.
Just throw everything on one page, then they don't have to worry about site structure. Who cares? Everything is on one page.
But I've also been reassured. It seems that Mac users are far from satisfied with the website. Its our incessant and perhaps overbearing demand for quality that draws me to the platform.
While the old layout is better spaced out for people who visit the apple store with a purchase in mind.. the new store is better for outside customers. People who don't buy apple. It's provides many more options like the other computer makers stores. It's designed to compete. And it's cool so many gagets, nicknacks and dodads to look at and think about buying.
maybe its because im one o' them "pc outsider types" but i find it much easier to find things with the links rather than having to drill down through the old store page-by-page.
apples "top 10 list" is cool and tells me what most people are buying, and gives me purchase ideas. (who knew the ExtendAIR Omni Antenna was #2? in fact until the new store came online i had never heard of it! and would have never seen it under the old store design unless i knew what to look for! now ill buy one with my mac.)
and this new site design makes it easier when i show potential pc switchers the store espically when they see the images of the diffrent sized powerbooks going from small to large. (they'll want to "supersize" their powerbook) and this will also increase add-on sales for apple. so if you look at the new store design in THAT light its a good idea.
