"Real" DJs still use computers, sometimes. Why do you automatically assume using a computer automatically means mp3? NIN uses PowerBooks live. so does Moby. etc. etc. You seem to be pretty down on technology for someone who posts on a computer board.

Unfortunately, he's pretty much down on everything. Buzzkill.

'Real' DJ's who work for radio, night clubs, or some form of urban music collaboration (either those who just spin music in the former cases, or those who make a more creative collaboration in the latter) and then there are the DJ's 'for hire' travelling the house party, wedding, HS dance,teeny-bopper house party route in a white van filled with milk crates and home made, Radio Shack sourced, strobe lighting kits. Sure, an Mp3 rig is a good way for the latter to cut down on milk crates and still bring enough pirate music along to keep fat brides and squealing teen girls happy.

You can make an argument that both groups are professionals, but there's some finer distinction to be made. Real disc jockeys don't spin Mp3. Maybe one day (soon) they will, but then again, real DJ's ussually don't have to put on some dinner music while the drunken bridesmaids barf under the table during dinner. Both sets probably feel up under-age girls in the back room, though.

hey! I like my milk crate vinyl holder thank you very much!....it was free so there!

Holy laptop cases, batman! Their Flat panel iMac "wedge" is cool! Apple should sell their stuff on their site.

Well, since Apple's priorities dont exactly seem to be things such as SPEED, perhaps it is acceptable to ruminate on things such as STYLE? Even if one assumes for a moment that such is not the case, one must admit that there is not much, truly, that can be said on the issue of SPEED. Clock ratings of the CPU or the internal bus or the bandwidth of a variety of other components could be discussed; however, not only have these topics been previously discussed ad nauseum, they also lack any semblance of originality or creativity, which, being the loyal Apple user you are, you must surely admit to being essential qualities of the Apple aesthetic. Even further, one must also admit that not everyone is technically capable of discussing SPEED, while they may be capable of discussing STYLE; I propose that STYLE, not SPEED, is therefore what they should discuss. Finally, their posting of threads on STYLE in no way impedes the discussion of SPEED; the net result is more discussion and more ideas:

My problem is with bimbos who care more about superficial looks than true quality and style. The new iMac is a brilliant design, for example, but its style runs deep and is not limited to gimmicks. We already know that Apple has industrial design nailed, but they are challenged when it comes to offering competitive hardware performance.

Hardware issues aside, my problem isn't with threads about style, it's with threads about dumb ideas. If you cannot comprehend why it's irrelevant and stupid to contemplate a Powermac with more handles so one can carry it more easily, I just don't know what to say. Some things are self-evident and need no explanation.

While this really isn't about looks at all (as you rant on about in your first paragraph), you still seem to think that just because you don't like (and obviously didn't understand) the idea, it's all of a sudden irrelevant and stupid?

So this is how those of us with different or interesting ideas other than "Quad 16985123GHz double-pumped RDR Rambus QuickIO G6s!!" are treated. Nice. Now shoo.
