Dating in High School
So, what is everyone's thoughts here on Dating in High School/JrHigh.....
I have seen many examples of it in my short life, there is the girl and boy who break up and get back together even after he cheated on her countless times... there are those who somehow who hooked up at a party, and it stuck, some that didn't.... lies, cries.......... it is a pretty harsh world, i believe.... then, maybe you have your friends to compete with.... it is hard to keep everything simple, ain't it?
For me, I try to keep things simple, don't compete, don't lie (well , "dO you like this shirt?"), ........ it is a complicated thing, does any one else agree?
I post this becuase I am curious of other's experiences of dating in high school, so, let's hear 'em

I can still remember the first girl I used to date in Higfh school. Sigh, bring back memories.
i dont bother, its too complicated, also there are only 260 kids in a school of 7 grades, (middle school and highschool) so everyone is way to involved with other peoples social lives, its sad. Most people only date people that go to the big highschool.
going to a party tonight though, i'll keep you posted on the dating front. . .

36 in a grade, yeah. Its crazy. You know everyone and their cousin.
This was about the size of my secondary school. You knew everybody's full name.
It was actually a neat way to go through high-school.
Both times I was asked by a girl to the prom. I was asked to go to a big football game by another one, asked to escort another to a sports banquet/award night, etc.
I wasn't a player or smooth or anything like that. I guess I wasn't threatening or something?
But I had a couple of girlfriend type things in those four years. Mostly it ended up being girls from rival schools because my band would play some silly party at someone's house and I'd end up meeting people from other nearby high schools.
I'm telling you: strap on a guitar and pretty much the world is your oyster.
But I knew some really sweet, cutie-pie girls. Smart ones too! I never could do the whole "bubblehead" thing. To this day, dumb, airheaded girls just annoy me to no end.
And - much like today - I always went for the wallflower types (for lack of a better world). The quiet ones who looked like they always had something brewing in their head.
Cheerleaders and majorettes and prom queen types never impressed me. Too stuck on themselves and their current popularity status.
Actually, one of the girls (my first smooch, no less!) owns a VERY successful coffee shop in my hometown and, to this day, we're in touch and talk and visit. So that's kinda cool. We're talking 20 years down the road, so that's pretty neat. She's one of the coolest people I've ever known and we always are able to just "pick right up where we left off", even after months of not talking or seeing each other.
But yeah, as a teenager every breakup or "bump in the road" was traumatic. Every handholding was really cool. Every note passed into your pocket in the hallway was invigorating!
If I could go back then, knowing what I know now...
Man.
Enjoy it, teens. Enjoy the hell out of it!
Then the party started. My most successful time, though, was my Freshman year of college and subsequent summer. Many accomplishments....

Being married has a lot to do about sacrifice and giving of your selfish wants and desires to the better good of the marriage and family.
Of course, having good, decent fun is always the best thing to do in pre-marriage relationships.
Do those things that you will be proud of when you are a parent, grandparent.
Get to know his/her family and help them out in some way. Especially the grandparents.
If you are interested in the other person as a mate prospect, keep an eye on their ability to be selfless, also.
It has taken me a' these years tae appreciate whit a bluidy sensible man he was.
