connecting to OS X from OS 9

I cannot log on to my OS X.2.5 Mac from a Mac running a classic OS. They can see my X mac but when I put in my name and password I get the message "The connection to the server has been unexpectedly broken" consistently. I can log on from other OS X Macs, and my X Mac can log on to classic Macs just fine. What little setting or something am I missing?

OS 8.6 9.1 and 9.2.2 have all yielded the same results

I've tried to do this. It really ****ing sucks, Apple ****ed it up. Try this.

Trash all appletalk pref's on the 9 machine. Hook the two up over a real ethernet connection, airport doesn't work at all. The OS X computer should be able to mount the OS 9 disk but not the other way around.

    Good luck.
