I'm a little miffed at Apple right now. 1) Seems like abnormally low trade in values? 2) Shipping the phone with so many "not-ready" features. 3) The camera button (sorry Apple, it's a Button) seems very quirky, touch, half-press, finger slide . . . I'm currently playing and learning with it. But it seems "longer" to access features than normally just using the touchscreen?? I'm not sure it's a real usable tool. 4) This screen bug that ignores taps and swipes that is mentioned in the article . . . it's hard to reproduce but it's happened to me maybe 10 times in 3 days!
So far, I'm not super pleased with my $1300 purchase (16 Pro with 512gb memory)
I gave some serious thought to upgrading from 15 Pro Max to 16 Pro Max but I concur they just didn’t seem to be that many features worth upgrading to. The capture button just seems to be more of a gimmick than really anything useful. I found my finger covering the lenses every time I tried using it in the store when taking a picture in landscape mode. I did upgrade to the series 10 Apple Watch from series 9 the trade-in value had gone down in three days $5 from launch day. The ever so lightly screen increase, new bevel edges to see screen at an angle and faster chip, made the trade-in seem worth it.
iPad 9th Gen with iOS 18, and now experiencing frequent lag and key skips while typing. Not pleasant.
Also iPhone SE 2nd Gen with iOS 17.7, occasionally experiencing touchscreen non-responsiveness, particularly when using Chrome browser, but also Firefox browser. Not pleasant.
Wondering if Apple employees are having the issue and are aware of all these reports from people. Amazing and troubling how this was not caught in whatever QA period they did.
I hate to ask the obvious question, but don't they test software before they release it?
is this the crowdstrike school of quality control ?
Don't be a dramatic - it's probably gonna be fixed with a 18.0.1 update, and it certainly isn't BSODing your phone.
It happens infrequently enough that testers were probably thinking it was their screen protector causing the issue.
yes it's not a BSOD, but this really should have been discovered with some basic testing that is why we have testing much like the crowdstrike mishap, if they had tested that update on one PC, they would have found it broke windows
I have a 16 Pro Max on order and I’m on a 14 Pro Max now. Since upgrading, I’ve had multiple issues with touch recognition. I didn’t really notice it at first but today it’s been particularly bad. I was on a phone call and there was nothing I could do to get back to the phone app screen. Call then failed. I’m having some connectivity issues since upgrading as well both on Wi-Fi and cellular.
My friend who is having the issue says the phone works normally when she disconnects WiFi and only uses cell service. Going to have her delete my WiFi ssid and try adding back later.
Also, just saw article on Forbes that Apple is working on an 18.0.1 update with various features and fixes. To the editors of this forum - please keep on top of this issue as it is affecting so many and not a great start for iOS 18.
I have this sometimes on my 16 Pro. I clip the power button or swipe out of an app and it goes back to normal. I’m sure they’ll resolve in an upcoming release.

so where is the over dramatization?
