As CEO, Tim Cook is responsible for maintaining and growing Apple. His business priorities must always trump his personal priorities. If this were not the case he should not be CEO. Even managers in companies must follow the same set of priorities. A manager may have to lay off his best friend. That’s just the way it is, whether he has to hold his nose or take a long hot shower after the event to clean off all the BS.
Nothing personal, this is what Capitalism is all about.
Is there a limit to viewing the world through it’s just business” goggles?
For instance, if a weapons manufacturer wants to make weapons for both sides in a war is there a conflict of interest? What if one side isn’t a gov’t, but a terrorist organization? If it’s all about the bottom line should ethics come into play at all? If not ethics, then should legality matter outside of whether the cost for getting caught breaking the law is more than profit earned?
(We can apply this to real people where national security comes into play. I’m sure some here would surely say that a certain someone should be able to directly profit from their position, but I’ll keep it very general and hypothetical for the sale of a healthy discussion.)
WOW after of the complete disaster of Biden & Harris, the US economy and the country itself brought to its knees there is still this insane hatred of Trump! Unbelievable. That's and opinion of someone in the UK looking at what has happened to the great nation of the USA of the last four years. Tim Cook knows big change is coming and all he is doing is positioning himself and Apple to take advantage of that.
I don't expect you to do any research or read any actual news, but I would appreciate it you kept the douchey comments to a minimum.
No, I don't read the propaganda, unlike you. You are looking and believing an illusion. You will learn, eventually. You hope Trump fails but he will not.
Has Trump succeeded in making Mexico build that wall along the US border with their own money in his previous term? Or, is that planned for the current term? Or planned for some unknown date in future?
Did Trump put tariffs in place? He sure did.
Food (no pun intended) for thought:
"The impact of the tariffs has been severe. US soybean exports to China were brought to a virtual halt, dropping over 90 percent and costing farmers roughly $7.9 billion in lost sales. But the tariff story has multiple levels. Selling less soybeans to China meant that US farmers would also have to bear the additional cost of placing more of their crops into storage facilities. The price tag associated with storage however has now gone up, thanks to the previous tariffs placed on the steel and aluminum products required in the construction of storage facilities. In fact, the cost of steel used in grain storage bins has risen 20 percent. Adding further insult to injury, these same steel tariffs are also raising the price of a wide range of farm equipment and machinery.
It’s a bit mind-boggling to reflect on the vicious cycle: Chinese tariffs – put in place in response to US tariffs – are substantially reducing US soybean sales and requiring greater storage capacity — the price of which has now gone up thanks to a previous and unrelated round of tariffs. Perhaps not surprisingly, farm bankruptcies in the US Midwest are at record levels."
The US Midwest was Trump country and his previous administration had to pump billions into agriculture to keep the industry afloat.
Conclusion: use tariffs wisely.
Has the incoming administration taken stock of what happened last time around?
Everyone will find out soon.
Tim Cook has a duty to do what he thinks is best for the company. Rubbing Trump up the wrong way obviously wouldn't be very productive so the only other option is to try to navigate the US-China geopolitical waters as best he can. There is whitewater ahead.
This is what is required when the man baby "chosen" to run the country has the mind, vocabulary and temperament of an five year old. Don't fault Tim. Fault the people that voted for Trump.
Fault the people who voted for Trump as opposed to the people who voted in Bied & Harris. Biden is a man who can hardly speak and most likely though he was president of Russia for the past 4 years! You people on this forum are so far out of touch with reality, it is quite frightening how you can function in society! I see lots of Democrats and leftists on here.
The funny thing about MAGA is they are so far away from normality that they see people right of Center as being Far Left.
When they discredit a war hero like McCain by calling him a RINO and championing Captain Bone Spurs for calling him a loser for getting caught, you really have to wonder about their sanity.
I will never understand how people can get wrapped up in a colt even as I see it happen. I truly do feel sorry for you and your ilk even as you work to destroy this democratic republic.
This is what is required when the man baby "chosen" to run the country has the mind, vocabulary and temperament of an five year old. Don't fault Tim. Fault the people that voted for Trump.

You keep claiming the people in the forums are out of touch, read propaganda, are on drugs, etc. Perhaps you should find somewhere else to have these discussions if we're so far away from the reality you live in.
President of Russia? Can hardly speak? Sounds like propaganda served on the Fox News network. lmao
"see lots of Democrats and leftists on here" you do realize we have a two party system? Do you hate everyone that isn't MAGA? See, I respect Republicans and people right of center despite us having different viewpoints. I don't tolerate extremists, however, which is what Trump's MAGA party is. So if you choose to worship a wannabe dictator, go for it, but maybe leave us out of it.

Everything you say about MAGA is the very thing the so-called Democrats and Biden administration have imposed on the American people. You project what you really are onto the opposition to try and fool the people. After 4 years of the Democrats and Biden etc the American people just saw through the deception and voted for Trump. You people just can not get your head around that. Yes, I say in jest you must be on drugs as that is the only conclusion any sane person can come to with anyone who thinks Biden was even half competent.
You do you bud. Whatever you think, the numbers don't lie. Our economy is strong, job market is healthy, and while there were problems as there always are, we handled them professionally and with respect. I believe the party that wants to remove rights from citizens, kick people out of the country, and blame fires on DEI is the extreme one. Nominating people that believe women shouldn't be in combat because they are inferior to men, want Bibles in every classroom, and celebrate when rights are taken away from women and children all falls under extremism.
Trying to fool people? How? With facts and knowledge? With education, care, and the hope for equality and happiness for all? I'm not sure how you can twist a message of love and unity into something it isn't, but I'm sure you'll try.
What exactly have Democrats imposed on the American people? I'm honestly curious what you'll say.

CEOs have a legal, fiduciary responsibility to always act in the best interests of their companies and shareholders. It is generally believed that the CEO and employees acting in an ethical manner ultimately results in greater shareholder value. So yes, ethics do matter in business. But unlike business and financial ethics, ethics that deal with people, human interactions, and behavior can be fuzzy and volatile. The line between ethical and unethical behaviors are not necessarily agreed upon by everyone and they are clearly impacted by societal norms of the time. Things that would be considered to be political or business career killers 10-20 years ago are now brushed aside as inconsequential or even viewed as positive attributes today. Personally, I find it sad but I chalk it up to basic human nature. All I can do is keep trying to navigate through the world that I live in whether or not it’s the world I wish I could live in. Tim Cook is no different and recognizes the immense responsibility he carries on his shoulders.
FYI, during the Iran-Iraq war there were quite a few weapons suppliers selling armaments to both sides. One country in particular was building and selling missile gunboats for one side and selling anti ship missiles to the other side.
This is what is required when the man baby "chosen" to run the country has the mind, vocabulary and temperament of an five year old. Don't fault Tim. Fault the people that voted for Trump.

Wow. Either you’re in touch with reality and lying and projecting, or… you’re completely out of touch with reality and believe what you’ve just said, and… projecting. Do yourself and us a favour and keep track of stuff like the price of eggs, now. And health insurance. And other basic essentials. And stop watching FOX News, please.
By the way: we’re not just “Democrats and leftists” here, you’re assuming we’re either American, whatever you consider “leftist”, or both. In my case, I’m neither. In my country, there’s a literal Communist Party, and the only reason I don’t support them is because, well, I don’t think their supposedly “democratic” system works and because they’re basically tankies and, even today, Putin simps because whoever is the US’s enemy, they will support regardless of what ideology they espouse. As for Anarchism – and believe me, I have plenty of anarchist friends and know what it entails –, I don’t advocate for it either, because I don’t see it working on a large scale, but I’ve seen it, with my very own eyes, working at a smaller one, so there’s that. I do support a brand of leftism that is so far left of whatever you think “the left” is that it would make your head explode if I even dared explain it to you in detail. Whatever you consider “leftist” in your country is a bunch of centrist milquetoast dilettantes (oh, believe me, there are true leftists over there, but they’re not wasting their time hanging around on a tech forum, they’re instead preparing the upcoming resistance, in the form of direct action, to the fascist bs that’s cooking), and Democrats…? They’re just Republicans painted blue, who are better with their finances and show some token respect for most women and some minorities, but that’s about it, they’re pretty right-wing by ANYONE ELSE’S standards (anyone outside of US politics, that is).
TL;DR: your country is cooked, and you will now get to see and feel, firsthand, what it’s like to have the fascists and oligarchs truly unfettered and in charge. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
It’s killing people here that Cook — a gay man who supports all of the things the media has told you Trump hates — is friends with Trump.
Wasn’t it Mark Twain who said that it’s easier to fool people, than to get people to admit they were fooled? Lol, never change AI forums!
How did you surmise that they're friends?
PS: Do you think Trump wanted to be your friend when the Treasury sent you a check with his signature on it despite it being a bill that the Democrats inked? LOL

Yeah we now know the people were let in by the DC police, there were FBI operative in the crowed trying to make it look like an insurection. The video footage that the Democrats were forced to realese shows the how event was another Democrat scam!
HAHAHAHA
Gotta love the insanity, at least on the surface. So, it's all just Democrats (and BLM), but it was also a day of love and peace (according to Trump). Also, Trump is going to pardon all these Democrats pretending to be MAGA terrorists when he's in office.
Makes perfect sense.
PS: Let's keep in mind that all those idiots — which I'm sure you supported — were there because they wanted the VP to do something illegal because they believed a lie about the election. Let's also keep in mind that the other side didn't claim that the election was stolen last November when tyranny and corruption won. For better or worse, that''s what it means to live in a democratic republic. Every nation gets the gov't it deserves. Let's also keep in mind that despite wanting Pence to not certify the election Harris did in favor of Trump and against herself, because thats' what it means to live in a country with free and fair elections.

Democrats use every trick in the book to stop Trump. And yes, they use ANTIFA and BLM where necessary to create disturbances that they can try to pin on Trump. They lied about police officers being killed and did not want to release all the CCTV footage of the Jan 6th Capitol Building, which turns out to show the people outside being let in and given tours around the place.
Stop with the conspiracy websites, dude! Mike Johnson tried to stop the CCTV footage and eventually had it blurred to keep more terrorists from getting charged.
PS: When people are against Antifa (which isn't an acronym, BTW), I have to wonder why you support fascism in the US.

If all you have is critisizing a typo you are running out of steam. Antifa are just socialist thugs nothing more. They are as bad as the Fascists they proclaim to fight. Let's be real here, Antifa just go after anyone who disagrees with them. Nothing more than hired thugs.
All I have? I have reposed to a lot of your nonsense so why act like I have only mentioned that one so-called typo? I have no idea if you know what Antifa is or how to spell it which is why I asked additional questions.
