One of the easiest and most obvious ways to improve the economy and give a lot of people jobs is to update/improve infrastructure throughout the United States. It's the proverbial low hanging fruit due to the fact that the United States has largely neglected infrastructure due to its obsession with enormous tax cuts and ridiculously expensive wars.

But the GOP doesn't like that idea because it would show the general population that democratic governance works for them. They like the "factories" concept because it's entirely oriented around private business.

Like I have repeatedly stated on this site and others, . Apple would not be harmed by these tariffs.  It’s amazing how people still do not understand how Trump operates and what his intentions are even after him being president for 4+ years.   Many view him as incompetent or corrupt and greedy but he is just following his America First policies and truly is trying to put America in a better position.  Those suffering from TDS will never see this.

Shares may jump in pre-market and open hours trading.   Good time to sell if you bought during g the worst dip last week.

Don’t do a market sell, but choose your limit price appropriately.

Trump is a genius in market manipulation.  I’m sure many of his shills and inside trading friends will take advantage of these obviously planned “crises”.

Apple has already been harmed by these tariffs.

Trump Derangement Syndrome is actually an affliction for those who look at Trump and don't (or pretend not to) see that he is incompetent, corrupt and greedy.

If this was all some sort of brilliant "master plan," do tell us why he didn't announce these exemptions from the start? He could have spared Apple et al the chaos and massive financial damage that has already been done. Earlier this week, Trump posted on social media "now is the time to buy," and then later in the day issued his 90-day "pause," causing markets to rally. This was literally a cue for insider trading. That's pretty corrupt and greedy.

Anyone witnessing his behavior and believing there is any sort of deep thinking behind it is completely batshit insane. Or brainwashed. You remind me of Leah Remini pre-awakening, saying to an interviewer “without scientology there can’t be any peace on this planet”.
I hope you wake up like she did. But you’ve been brainwashed. The only other explanation is that you’re a complete moron.

Either Apple snuck him a big chunk of untraceable cash or suddenly America doesn't need iPhone factories. Interesting...

It's lickspittles that have TDS, not the people that don't want a narcissistic rapist and felon who has profited from his politcal position, use charities to launder money, stolen from taxpayers, and countless other crimes.

One of the rare occasions that Trump has been honest has been when he said he could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and not lose a single vote. You are one of those people. You are probably one of those people that look at the turnout of his rallies and say, "clearly Trump has more votes," without the faintest comprehension that most people don't attend such things. That's probably why you still believe Trump won the election in 2020 that he clearly lost despite him trying to cheat... outside of him telling you that he actually won by more votes in human history.

Seriously, what crimes would it take for you to not to be on his side? You used to post about libertarianism ideals where you simply wanted smaller gov't that didn't interfere in our lives. It was always myopic because you failed to have a path for that outcome or see how things would cascade in negative ways as a result, but at least it had a focus on smaller gov't. Now it's simply your TDS where whatever that idiot says has to brilliant, even when he contradicts himself — sometimes mid-sentence — and when he's destroying the lives of the American people.

Enough with your jingoistic "America first" BS. You don't really believe that or you wouldn't be on board with countless people losing their livelihoods or people who are in the US legally being sent to a high security prison in a country they've never been to.

PS: Stop falling for this lie that the American people are being victimized by every other nation on earth (which is an oblate spheroid, BTW, not flat). That isn't to say that the American people aren't being wronged, but it's from within. But despite being the victim you still have a personal responsibility to not allow yourself to be victimized. Think of the people who fall for stupid phishing scams because they lacked the critical thinking and due diligence to not realize that bayareafastrak.org-pay.scam iisn't a valid website for San Franciso's FasTrak website.

Also, it's worth noting that for these tariffs issued under the IEEPA, books are generally exempt. This seems broad and innocuous enough, but it does mean that the Trump-branded bibles that are printed in Hangzhou China are exempt (and have been from the start) from the massive tariffs currently imposed on imported Chinese goods.

I started looking through the new list of exemptions that includes Apple's smartphones and computers to see if Trump's bibles had been snuck into that list, but then discovered they were already exempt. So you know, it's reassuring to see that at least the president won't have to decide whether to eat a $4.35 tariff on his $3 bibles (wholesale) or increase the retail price from $59.99 to $64.34 and pass it all on to the suckers consumers.

No. I had no idea. Thanks for the heads up. I'll catch it when it hits Prime Video Spain. I see it's listed here but to put on my watch list so I imagine it won't be long now.

I’m sure come next week, all will be undone again and he will be up to 200% and demanding more foreign leaders kiss his rear.

No international business that deals with the US can plan investment right now.  The US is too unpredictable and volatile. Nobody knows what the mad king will do next. The impact will be massive.

Sadly, this further proves the degree to which the Administration is driven by one person's ego and not by any thoughtout policy. If there was a logial policy then economists in the administration would have considered American producers using Chinese and other foreign factories as an important consideration. The egomania was massaged by those CEOs who paid to attend the special inauguration events and then they eventually could remind the Dear Leader about his obligation to them. The President cares nothing for the consumers, only the manufactuers and associated weathly oligarchs.

As he might say, "it is just sad"

If you liked how Blackadder tipped into historical elements I think you'll love how Upstart Crow follows the timeline of Shakespeare's career with a surprising amount of accuracy for a sitcom. I'm also a big of David Mitchell* for whom Ben Elton wrote the role.

*Mitchell played the PC in Apple's "Get a Mac" ads that aired in the UK.

Big congrats to Tim Cook for his quiet and thorough diplomacy. All the Cook naysayers should hang their heads in shame.
Apple is a big company. Big companies can afford their bribes to get special treatment. It is all the small companies that will be screwed.

There is a reason Tim Cook (Apple) and Foxconn get things done they don’t make a scene, they don’t get loud, scream, or use bluster. They keep their nose to the grindstone, they also seem to realize that when you make any deals with the Chinese, South Koreans, Vietnamese, Indian, even the Japanese, that is just the first step in the process you have to follow through and constantly watch and inspect every aspect of the supply line and the manufacturing process your job isn’t done because you signed a contract in reality your job only just started, that type of long range planning certainly isn’t common currently in Washington DC.

Parent article (a federal sales tax tariff policy that isn’t very fair to the average American consumer and to most small businesses that are not connected to the top 1%).

This reversal is also a symptom of how many Republican congress members own Apple stock.
