FYI to people who don't think "corruption" is an appropriate term: the head of Treasury is having private meetings with select private sector financial big wigs andtelling them in advance that the tariffs in China are going to be reduced significantly in the near future. Then you have Trump scheduling "private dinners" in Washington with the top buyers of his Trump meme coin while he's serving as president.

Back in the 1990s, the GOP standard for impeaching a president was Bill Clinton lying about a sexual affair in a legal deposition for a civil lawsuit. That's it. They claimed that lying in a legal deposition about something that was not illegal itself made him unfit to be the head of a branch of government that enforced the law.
Warren is a career politician. I’m sure she’s very familiar with corruption.
No she isn't, she's a career academic who only got into politics in her 60s.
Compare that to Trump's political awakening after visiting Moscow in 1987. All of a sudden he starts taking out full page ads in newspapers that criticize NATO and promote tariffs as the solution to America's economic issues. He also tried to get the H.W. Bush administration to give him a government position.
Indeed, in most democratic countries this money giving process during elections would be seen as outright corruption.
Pretty much my view as well. When it costs over $1bn to run a political campaign, you know that the people who contributed that money are going to want something in return for it. This is where the ideals of democracy, where you have a government which truly acts in the best interests of the country (not the small minority who contribute to their party), fall down.
The anger directed to Sen. Warren is weird. If you actually read the letter she never accuses Cook or Apple of doing anything wrong or illegal. She does say that some reporting about Cook's interactions raise concerns that everything may not be above board. One of the key job functions of the Senate is oversight. She has asked for more information to understand what happened. If Cook and Trump have done nothing wrong then Cook will be able to demonstrate that with his answers. No big deal. But Sen Warren is simply doing her job. I fail to see why that is an issue.
Why doesn’t she spend her time looking for corruption at the executive level where this whole mess began. Tim Cook is just trying to somehow alleviate the negative impact of Tariffs sometjkng Warren should be doing instead of sitting on the sideline being bullied.
Moderation note: waiting until the mods go to bed to continue posting the things we asked you not to post isn't a good strategy. I've deleted yet another thread that left the topic behind ages ago and was spinning into an argument about Warren's history and if conservatives even exist.
The topic is whether Apple's playbook to curry favors is corruption and if Warren's letter has merit. If you can't discuss that topic without attacking people or political parties, don't have the conversation. And complaining about moderation not being applied equally is silly because you don't see all of the content we delete that openly insults Trump and his party.
If you feel singled out, perhaps it's because you keep posting things that violate the rules and derail conversations.

Unless the definition of “career politician” has changed recently, that is false. She is not a career politician. She was first elected to political office at the age of 63. She spent the majority of her career in academia. Which… I know “academia” is also a word that will trigger some people’s feelings.
And Tim Cook spent the majority of his life in the real world, not academia. Does Senator Warren think she can get all the manufacturing equipment out of China within 30 days or whatever? She clearly does not know the road blocks to this in the real world. She should let Tim do what he does best. He is responding to the tariffs as best as possible and may have asked Pres. Trump for more time. What's the big deal? Would Senator Warren be happier if Apple just suffered market share to Samsung, and the Androids? Would that make her happy?

She's asking for information, that's all. If the information backs up what you say then she'll likely be satisfied, or will redirect her criticism to the administration that has caused all the trouble.
This has nothing to do with Samsung or Android. That's a weird angle.
I'm 65 years old, and I've been paying attention to politics for about 50 of that. There has never been a time in my life when a significant number of federal politicians, many times including the president, were NOT corrupt in some way.
So, the answer to Senator Warren's question is "yes". As it is for many other large corporations, including the ones who contribute to her and other representatives campaign funds. It might (or might not) be true that Trump is more blatant about it than most, but government-business collusion has been a major thing in this country since at at least the 19th century. It's gotten worse since the Great Depression, but it's been there for a long time.

She seems to love investigating US companies over EU or Chinese ones. She's the one with the weird angle

Tim Cook should ask Senator Warren if she's getting some pay checks from the EU or China?
