Just sad the processor speed is low. Apple *really* need a huge bump there!

One other thing that is appreciated is that Apple have re-jigged the store to show the VAT inclusive price for all of us here in the UK.

However that 1Mb L3 cache is worth at least 200Mhz in CPU speed.

Yeah nice to get some L3 cache at last.... How do you find out if its using the low power G4 if will it be the "New G4 Powerbook Low Fat Grill" (George Foreman look out) Amazing AAPL have listened to someone, DVI out, Audio input!!, still only 1 Firewire tho.... Oh well, gonna hold onto the Pismo for a while yet..

Cool, Apple seem to be listening to what people want again. This "update" adds a lot of things that pros were looking for:

    Audio Line-in is back!!

    Better screen and Higher Res

    Better Video Card/Memory

    Better Proscessor and Cache

    DVI/VGA adapter included

    Im Happy!

Well, do'nt think Ill get much for my Ti 400 now!

Wow, this is actually better than I expected. A first. Now, can any genius out there tell from its 1280x854 15.2" resolution if its using the same raw LCD panel source as used on the 1024x768 12.1" iBooks? Are they using the same glass so to speak? Hmmmm...

uhm... is it? on the spec pdf, it says "line out", no word of a line in there. would be nice, though.

Not quite on topic, but I noticed the same thing as DaveLee here in France.

Prices now include VAT, ans this is A Good Thing®™

The new PowerBook specs are great ( not quite awesome, 1GHz + 1600*1024 rez would be awesome ).

    I want one !

This machine will be a hugh improvement and should boot sales of the product no end.

800Mhz is going to be no problem with 10.2 I think.

I would like to have seen DDR RAM and 867/1GHz models. I'm assuming they use the same model of the G4 as the previous revision of the PB, seeing as it's not DDR-RAM?

Can anyone guess what's missing from these new PowerBooks? Hint: It was to be a trade off but its just plain gone.

I posted this on Ars Technica:

[quote] Is this the first time Apple has released something before the rumors expected it? I've seen April 30th as the release date several places, and lots of WWDC expectations, but Steve got it out before then. Hmm...

Given there must be at least a thousand posts over at AppleInsider explaining how the 17" iMac will never happen, could Steve be toying with us? What's next, the Newton?

Here is another hint: True evidence that Bluetooth was planned to be included...

It must be the Apollo, but is it the 7445 or 7455? I thought the (cacheless) 7445 was the pin-compatible chip for the previous machine. So is this a new mobo?

BTW: I think I'm going to get one (through work). It has virtually everything we were looking for in an upgraded PBook. Now I just hope they don't come out with a new iBook to confuse me.
