Last I recall, if you go into the store and request a student discount, they have to file it on the online store anyway. So, you'd be just as well-off by ordering online yourself.
I bought my iMac at the store with the edu. discount. They asked for my student ID and had me fill out a form. They took a photocopy of the ID and filed it with the form and the discount was taken off right there.
So short answer... yes you can get it at the store.
Yup. That's what they told me at the Tyson's Corner Apple Store as well. I can buy any piece of Apple hardware at the edu discount price if I show them my ID, but need to use the online store for software. Of course, at the online store, they've never bothered to verify my student status, neither for hardware nor software.
