AppleWorks zooming

When I zoom the text in AppleWorks ugly gaps appears between many letters (i.e. "p" and "a"), which is quite annoying. I have the same problem with MS Word except when in "Online layout" mode, where zooming works fine. However, I don't want to use MS Word, so I wonder if anyone can 1) decrypt my bad English and 2) tell me how I can get the AppleWorks zooming to look better. :->

I understand your problem. Try downloading Silk 1.1 from Unsanity: http://www.unsanity.com/haxies/silk/. This will enable Quartz text rendering in many of your older Carbon programs, including AppleWorks, and will fix the problem you're describing here at the same time.
