Recommended CD-RW Drives

I currently have the DP 800 Quicksilver with the first-generation superdrive, and was considering adding a second drive (48X or 52X write speed) for burning CD's.

Can anybody recommed a particular make and site to shop for one?

Thanks.

I bought a Lite-On 48x CDRW drive a few weeks ago and I have found it to work great under MacOS X (including iTunes) right out of the box. Got mine from OWC. They now list a 52x model, also compatible with OS X, for about $60 plus shipping. You may want to check your local CompUSA store (or similar) as it is a very popular drive in the PC camp.

    Love it.

Are either of these drives noisy upon open/closing- or are they as quiet as the Pioneer Superdrive installed in the Powermac. A relatively minor detail, but I hate the noisy, cheap, drive I have at my work Wintel in comparison to the smooth, quiet, drive on my Mac...

Just get a Lite-On 52x ...check pricewatch for the best deal on one...and just get it white box since none of the software or whatever is for Mac...will save a few bucks. They work perfectly.
