Belgian elections... ugh
So I went out and voted for the green party this morning. They had been in our government for the past 4 years (together with socialists and liberals (read: centrum rightwing). I didn't go for socialists because they teamed up with a 'flamingant' party (them only wanting to split up Belgium in Flanders and Wallonia). So now, it appears that our greens will go from having ministers in the government to having NOT EVEN ONE ****ING SEAT in either the parliament or the senate. I cannot believe it! This has never happened 
What is this world coming to? You can bet your ass my dumb-ass compatriots have given the extreme-right another percent or so extra.
Of course, I AM a bit consoled by the fact that the socialists gained, not sure yet, but about 10 percent, becoming from the seventh party nationally (remember this country is mirrored: we have two socialist parties -flanders/wallonia-, two liberal parties, two green parties, two christian democrat parties, ...) to the second (or even the first, we're still waiting for a full count). So we'll have a good mouthful of left in our government for some years to come, but no ****ing green.
I guess it's time Belgium starts ordering those asthma pumps again, and a couple million chainsaws to cut down the three to four trees green left around here. This country already has the most concentrated highway network in the world, but there'll always be room for some more. Oh, and don't forget, we DO light our freaking highways ALL NIGHT LONG! You'll never loose your way in Belgium. Looking at the nightmarish times ahead for this country, I'm starting to wonder how you leftists and green blokes survive in present day US (and I think I have it bad).

Belgium is going down the same demographic path of perdition as is the rest of Europe...mainly conservative, because of the aging population. Older people tend to vote right..so it is going to be a very long dark tunnel for anyone left of centre...

but the reality is that older people do vote for what they see as conservative & safety related political positions. More police, more pensions, tougher migrant & refugee controls etc etc.
