An Alias to a hidden/system file?

I want to make an alias to the .trash folder in my home folder, so that I can have a trash on the desktop.

I used TinkerTool to shoe the hidden files, created the alias, and then turned off the hidden files. Unfortunately the alias also disappeared. (I tried to rename the alias without the . in front, but that didn't do anything.

Any suggestions?

    This one will work anywhere.

    ln -s ~/.Trash ~/Desktop/Trash
