Do you have problems with the new ipod?
I've been visiting the support forum at apple.com recently. To my astonish, there's a large number of people reporting problems with their new ipod. I understand that the forum at apple is mainly for people who have problems so it would not be a realistic account of the problems. I just want to know how common are these problems, and if they affect everyone or not.
There are a few problems that I have found.
1) Clicking sound between songs
and
2) songs skipping midway through.
I'm asking this because I'm thinking of getting an ipod for my brother as a present. I have an old-touchwheel ipod and haven't had any problem. I'm just wondering if I should get him a new ipod or an old ipod.

The clicking sound does not bother me at all, in fact I find it hardly noticeable....but maybe thats just me.
However, the song skipping midway through is annoying. It happens to the same exact songs everytime, at the same point in the song. Ironically it only happens to songs that I didn't encode myself. Songs that I've had for a long time that I should probably just delete cause I didn't get them legally
All of my legally encoded/downloaded songs work just fine.

I have yet to experience these problems. I use my iPod (new 30GB) every day and am completely digging it.
I'm just wondering, so these problems does not happen to everyone? I thought the clicking affects everyone... I'm not sure about the skipping.
I think maybe you are just thinking about the pause between songs, which I don't know why they haven't fixed it yet even for old iPods since the thing has a whopping 32 megs of RAM (IIRC). Anyway a lot of RAM. The new iPod is better but if you don't want to spend so much the old iPod still kicks booty. Either way your bro is going to be feeling

no skipping for me so far
My major problem was that the top acrylic casing was seperating from the SS backing. Almost looked as if it popped out. I was unable to push it back without damaging it so I sent it back to Apple, and they replaced it. Got the new yesterday, and so far so good. Knock on wood.
I have had both of these occur...it's B.S.
Nice product but this crap shouldn't occur at these prices...
2) My current iPod has no problems with the HDD or the battery meter. I've had it for 2 weeks.
3) The clicking is there on every iPod. I don't really care about it, it's not really bad.
4) The ONLY problem I have is that the buttons on the iPod are sometimes unresponsive for a few seconds. It's really annoying. Also, sometimes I press "menu", and the screen changes... to the same screen as before.

I had the know battery issues with my old 5 and 10 gig iPods but after the battery update that I did on the 10 gb it worked flawelessly.
