Apart from North Korea of course..but I think that qualifies for " Fanatic totalaterian cult worshiping fringe marxist " State of the year award.

I challenge anyone to name me a single marxist state. past or present, ( except Gilligan's island & the Brady Bunch ) that has actually ever worked. ?

Put em up & see how fast we can knock em down...!

Your impression of the AI crowd needs some adjusting.

What is the point of this thread, seeing we can all expect what will happen, and you point towards it in the first post (aquafire). All that will be presented will serve the knocking-down tendencies of the other clout. Moreover, what do you call 'succesfull'? A term that is as vague as a salad fart. And, to finish, you wish for some members to defend marxist/communist states, whereas there are little, if not none, who actually believe marxist states are the way to go.

no, they would probably use linux.

I don't see anything North Korea succerssfully did except to passably replicate a pre-revolutionary absolute monarchy Ã* la Louis XVI sur stéroïdes, but sans the whole Versailles stylish decadence.

I suppose some of them fancy this distribution: 红旗Linux.

Countries which functioned according to the ideological schools born of the ideas of Marx, Engels, and Lenin, were shown by their record to inefficacious from an economics perspective, and atrocious from a human-rights perspective.

I think that is quite well documented.

Provide a sustainable socio-economic alternative to capitalism..One that proports to provide the working class with their marxist equivilant of " heaven on earth "

based on the fruits of their own labours.

But it interests me, how many "psuedo marxists " their are in AI..I won't mention names, but their pretty obvious.

They are perpetually bagging capitalism..& quoting marx of late...but ironically, when asked to put up a marxist model to counter the capitalist model, they usually fall back on such lame excuses as there has never been one because everyone of them has been flawed up till now.

Why is it that it never occurs to marxist's to acknowledge that the same could be said of pure capitalism..?

Capitalism has never worked properly either..But at least it provides more economic benefit to the working class than does the least so called " flawed " marxist states that have ever existed...

Maybe Anders & de Kopf are right..or hiding...

in saying there are no Marxists as such..just a lot of lame socialists...

Please do. SJO is probably the one who are closest. But she is closer to Bush than Marx.

    PS: "they are"

You calling ME a marxist? I don't see anybody else here. You calling ME a marxist? (etc. my lame hommage to Taxi Driver).

You are wrong to do so, aquafire, if that's what you're doing. I'm wary of communism, and I have said that before. The main problem, imho, being that it presupposes all humans to be ideal moral creatures, which they are not and will never be.

    Me?

Social Democrat veering to the left and abosutely no liberal.

I am about as Marxist as North Korea. That is, not (clue: work out what you're talking about before talking).

Oh, Kerala by the way. Full of happy people, but socialist rather then Marxist.

Man, If I could catch fish as easy as this.......stop jumping at the bait since your not " marxists "...

The most successful "marxist" state in the world would probably be Cuba. Comparable countries are arguably more dysfunctional. But then we are only comparing rotten banan-republics anyway.

Marx himself would probably turn in his grave at the thought of Cuba-style marxism.

What needs to be recognized however is the impact of Marx' theories on modern historical social, and economical theory. Even the most die-hard capitalist have a learnt a lot form Marx.

Look, you wanted someone to name a socialist state so you could knock it down.

    I gave you one: Kerala.

    I'm waiting.
