An early build, to be sure, but that 10.6 screenshot is undoubtedly genuine. Note the radical movement toward minimalism and the new trend in Emersonian, naturalist design.

C'mon, you can just tell.
Hahahahaha. This post just cracks me up. Emersonian design? Ralph Waldo Emerson was an author, not an architect. Maybe you were think of Louis Sullivan or Frank Lloyd Wright. Minimalism is a trend which is more properly identified with Mies van der Rohe and the other modernists (though Sullivan and Adler effectively did start the modern era from a building construction perspective).
I could have faked every one of those screenshots. I find them mostly lacking in originality, and the "censored: iChat" stuff is annoying. Why do people take screenshots they have to edit? And why is the menubar censored on one of those shots? Maybe if I took a screenshot and ran it through a couple of Photoshop filters to obscure the screen, I could get it labeled a Panther screenshot too.
Ok Hobbes, we beleive you. We are sure that what you say you saw was real. We do. Now, if you would just like to slip into this nice white jacket with the belts for us everything will be fine. No need to worry about all that Apple stuff now. You were right all along. Just come this way ... there's a good chap

i had to beat up steve jobs personally to get this screen shot out in the open. so your welcome everyone.
Thanks for the tip about how to produce an accented é, I would never have worked that out on my own, seeing as I have been a translator for the past 15 years. My point about the expose was that if it was running why was safari showing in the top menu bar? Surely if Safari was the active app then the desktop would return to normal. Or are you suggesting that expose allows you to work in apps in the minimized state? If so how do you go about reading what is in each tiny window? I dont know, maybee I am wrong but the whole thing just looks like a hoax to me and if it turns out to be true I think I will stay with 10.2 as I dont like what I see.
That tip was meant for everyone, not just you.
As said before Exposé isn't a normal app. It's probably kind of like the Screen Saver Engine...an app that doesn't show up in the Dock and displays above all else. No matter what app is running you can put the pointer in a "hot corner" and Exposé will show you all of your active windows. I'm guessing that to help get rid of clutter, all of the active windows are hidden and displayed in Exposé, otherwise you would have windows behind the windows you're supposed to be selecting, which could get confusing.
I'm still going to hold judgment on whether these are real or fake until Monday. They have some interesting ideas nonetheless.
I think the key thing that we need to wait and see until monday about is the consistency of the 'theme' approach.
There's nothing wrong with using the metal theme, but it has to be done consistently accross the OS. Mixing and matching will be confusing to users.
You could argue that restricting it to finder.app will seperate the finder nicely from 3rd party non brushed metal apps.
The problem is that most people don't think of finder as an app (or indeed windows explorer), but rather as the OS. It's just the way most non technical people think. Mixing and matching the themes is just going to mess with these people's heads
I dont mind the UI at all in these pictures, but the most important thing is determining if they're even real. Isnt that more important than how somethings are 'one pixel off'? It's a good observation, but things like that should be expected in an ALPHA. Just some comments on some other details in the pictures:
I would expect the green bar in the iChat window to latency for the camera stream.
The iChat window is blurred it would be nice to see the difference and just have the guy blur out the conversation
Any idea to the unknown cesored window? I cant think of anything that would be that shape.
Thruthfully, there is really no way to determine it's authenticity, becuase the minor details are expected to be a bit rough, but only 2 days left. I dont think it will hurt too much just to wait and hear it from steve himself. (if he's not in jail for murder that is)
And recieving C&D letters and having the images removed does not necessarily mean that these are real, just they are annonouced, unreleased, or fake pictures that Apple doesnt want floating around.
[B]Jon, you once quite strongly told me that it's bad form to critique a work in progress. Maybe you should follow your own advice and wait it out a bit? Hold your judgement until Monday. No need to develop hypertension at your age.
You're kidding, right? How does saying 'these shots don't look real because of x, y, and z' = critiquing a work in progress?
I really don't like you much. Hypertension? Right. If you think I really care that much about this stuff, you've got your head up your ass in a serious way. Projection is a terrible thing, Spart.
"Expos"? Um, it's expose, and the 'e' has an accent. But all the accents are turning up all funny in AI. And the 'e' sounds stupid accented. Why didn't apple just make it "expose", without the accent?
What the f***? Since when has the printer EVER been in System Preferences?
Hell, it was never even in Control Panels!
Barto
Ah, you are correct! Still, its where it belongs (in my oppinion). Just hoping they will bring back "Desktop Printing". I loved that feature of Classic OS.

10.6 takes minimalism to just a whole new level. And you can't tell me someone just mocked that one up. No way.

The Apple Menu now has nothing at all to do with the Start Menu (it doesn't even launch applications)...
Wrong from the start, take a look at what's in "Recent Items".

With the accent it's "exposay", not expose.
