When will XServe be updated soon?

The XServe is now in a serious need of an upgrade. I am guessing the specs will be dual 1.8 Gzh with everything else the same as the PM.

Maybe Pixar will then move over to G5 render farms.

Actually I'd expect lower speeds in the Xserve, at least in the current form factor. Low heat / power and high reliability are the important factors. A dual 1.4 or 1.6 would probably be very effective, and a relatively small drop in performance for a big gain in efficiency. I wouldn't expect it for a couple of months though -- give the PowerMacs a chance to catch up with demand and work out the bugs in the system.

Do we have any information on the watttage of that sucker.

Hey you know what? Where I work they toyed with the idea of getting a Linux blade server. Like ~20 CPUs. OS X and Apple did come up though. Now with a "real" CPU it should come up again
