Actually I'd expect lower speeds in the Xserve, at least in the current form factor. Low heat / power and high reliability are the important factors. A dual 1.4 or 1.6 would probably be very effective, and a relatively small drop in performance for a big gain in efficiency. I wouldn't expect it for a couple of months though -- give the PowerMacs a chance to catch up with demand and work out the bugs in the system.
Do we have any information on the watttage of that sucker.
Hey you know what? Where I work they toyed with the idea of getting a Linux blade server. Like ~20 CPUs. OS X and Apple did come up though. Now with a "real" CPU it should come up again
