It doesn't have the new font as the eMac and Xserve.

My first impression is that it's Photoshopped. The shading on the chrome Apple logo appears to be identical to that of the xserve - which is too much of a coincidence. Also all of the ingredients required for the mock-up are available from the xserve photo (except for the speaker).

Three front facing removable hard disks? And only one optical drive? That'll piss a few people off.

How would this case layout work with that red "test" motherboard that was doing the rounds a few weeks ago. I seem to remember that it had ATA connectors in strange places?

If Apple's legal staff demand it's removal then we'll know it's genuine?

It's obviously a fake. There is no CPU monitor like one that on the XServe(a linear comglomeration of LED's).

Not to mention "The new G4 tower"?? I think not! Apple refer to it as "The Powermac G4" This makes me highly sceptical! Looks like a total xserve photoshop rehash!!

Oh my god. It's a photoshopped Xserve? But it looked so real.

    Bravo sherlocks, bravo.

It's fake. There's no 10.5 multiplier that would be needed for 1.4 GHz.

    Never trust anyone telling you about a 1.13 GHz, 1.26 GHz or 1.4GHz G4. <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" />

Huh? The 7455 supports up to a 16X multiplier.

    Pages 43 and 44. There isn't even a 10.5 multiplier. After 8 it's all whole numbers.

very nice photoshop job, but one thing makes it quite suspect. If those drive bays are suposed to be interchangeable with Xserve's caddies, which is strongly suggested by the image, and would be a great feature IMHO, then they're too wide. The Xserve's drive caddies are about a third narrower than the CD drive.

Also, the whole "New G4 Tower" thing is very unlikely, Apple hasn't used the word "Tower" to describe the PowerMac since the days of the Beige G3. The word doesn't appear anywhere on Apple promotional materials, or the product's webpage.

good looking piece of work, though. Kinda gets fuzzy around the Firewire Ports and the Speaker though.

    ciao,

Does anyone actually believe it's real? No, I didn't think so. It looks cool though.

    i like it

it does look somewhat fake, but then again almost everyone thought the pics of the QS were fake. i like the design, but how do you pick it up? retractable handle on top? will they offerr a grill for the front speaker? is it all made of aluminum?

Count me in with the "looks great" crowd. I like the industrial look of Aluminum and the current Quicksilvers are indeed nice but "Plasticky" looking. I love the blue LED's

someone didn't think about the text on the side very much. With 2 Gig ram, this would probabally be the ultimate BTO version, and definitley the top end. Geforce 4 MX - i don't think so. Plus 'standard superdrive' - what's that supposed to mean? Apple are not all of a sudden going to start calling the drive they're so proud of in the new imac (and old towers obviously) 'standard' -unless it means superdrive as standard.

Looks like a machine to be taken seriously, however - good idea.
