What do you think it is?

    Here's my guess:

<a href="http://forums.appleinsider.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=3&t=000871"; target="_blank">In a different forum because it's software, although the audio suite thing was told to me as probably 2-3 months off, maybe the guy who told me that didn't have the full story, or maybe it will be announced soon, and ship later or something.

I'd Guess that Apple will either update some software - the whole product line supports Quartz Extreme, does it not?

The other option to me is that the iMac will be speed-bumped or have its price reduced to the original point.

i don't think a press conference would be called for a imac bump. apple just bumps stuff now without much fanfare

Hmm. What happens if you pour Fran, John Sculley and InkWell into a bowl and mix?

Nothing major according to ThinkSecret so perhaps it's an announcement of Quicktime 6 finally being available. The hangup heretofore has been due to licensing issues.

An interesting point leading up to Tuesday: Apple media relations has been lining up interviews for Jobs and only a few days ago found out it would be competing with the Sculley announcement.

If he's lining up to do interviews following the event, it's gotta be something bigger than just an update in software or even a new software product. I would venture to say it could be something like a new hub device or major enhancement to existing hardware (G5 news?) given the nature of the way "public relations" is trying to spin it after the annoucement.

Well, one thing is sure, it's true that Apple is no longer waiting for the big shows to release stuff.

Maybe it's their video conference app?

Tablets suck. There are many threads about why they suck. To surmise, they're only useful for somewhere you can't type. Thus, no market. A flippable touchscreen iBook with stylus & InkWell makes more sense. Tablets suck. How many people here own one? How many know someone who does? I've never even seen one.

iPDA? Yes please. Don't forget about where iPhone.org points to, either!

I think somebody at Apple finally realized that its more important to be in the news more often, rather than at just the big Mac shows where they'd be in the news anyhow.

I'm not even going to try and guess what this is.

I think that Steve's album has hit final pressing and the artwork is ready....but you didn't hear that from ME! Just watch MP3.com for some downloads of this stuff...it's pretty impressive.

Apparently, these aren't the Macs I was looking for.....

    Who knew?

    Steve knew.

    He told me so.
