Scroll in Safari@Panther Slowed down??

I know everybody says Panther is faster than Jaguar. Yes it is.

One exception. Scroll speed in Safari is slowed down from Jaguar's.

Anybody knows why and any walk around?

10.3 Panther DP

G4 Cube 450MHz

1GB RAM, 80GB HDD(Jaguar@8GB, Panther@4GB Partition)

Radeon 7500 32MB

I think that has to do with the addition of smooth scrolling. It can make it seem slower.

Depends what you mean "slowed down". When I grab the scroll thumb in Safari in Panther, I can sling it anywhere I want and it scrolls without any hesitation whatsoever. In Jag it was a bit stuttery.

So, any way to turn it off?

I love the new scrolling--it rocks on toast.

*hate* smooth scrolling. what a disaster. just give me "regular" scrolling with more speed....

currently, scrolling (using the keyboard) in Office v.X, especially Excel, is so slow that scrolling in Excel 2000 in VPC (XP home) is roughly the same speed....(this is with the fastest keyboard repeat rate, etc).
