I don't know if this has been posted before... but I'm taking a chance.

Me? Sorta both... but, I lean more towards the Beatles.

I'm leavin' it plain and simple: Beatles, Elvis, or none.

Now there's a rock star who grew as big as his legend...

    Yes.

[edit: didn't even think about it, but I'm listening to the Beatle's Rubber Soul CD as I replied to this topic.]

    Read his presentation.

Are you fed up with the endless parade of tacky, polyester clad, overly sincere Elvis impersonators? We present to you the ultimate "bad" Elvis. What does Fat Elvis do? It depends on the situation. Fat is flexible. He sings, break dances (you must see), ad-libs with his legions of fans and poses for photographs. Fat Elvis is a popular addition to corporate conventions as a guest speaker, one man welcome committee, or an exhibit hall "booth magnet". Fat Elvis is getting bigger everyday!

    BREAK DANCES?

Gotta have him perform at my wedding...if I ever wanted to marry...and didn´t have taste

Oh another good one: "Fat is flexible"

I can't remember who it was who said of America, that it was the only country in the world to have moved from barbarism to decadance without ever touching culture..but in the case of elvis..its spot on....

    Wasn't it Oscar wilde?

Or another one of those fin de siècle decadents?

I found both Elvis and the Beatles to be equally foolish and equally amusing while they existed.

Both great bands, but I'll have to go with Elvis, despite his downward spiral towards the end. His gospel music is really good as well.

Yes it was Mr Oscar Wilde.

    Thankyou for jolting my memory.

    Actual quote is :

" America is the only country that went from barbarism to decadence without civilisation in between . "

I happen to appreciate this one too.

" No one ever went broke underestimating the taste of the american public "

I like both. The Beatles were brilliant composers, while Elvis was just a very good interpreter. They are not really comparable.

I hate the Beatles and I think even they themselves would vote for the King. For all the doubters just listen to the song Mystery Train. More Rock N Roll in that 2:27 then in the Beatles whole career.

I don't like Elvis, and would never listen to an entire Beatles song if I could help it. Just never liked them much, either.
