Yeah I grew up on watching The Beverly Hillbillies. Since I'm probably a bit older than most of you it was it's first run also. It may have been a simple comedy but it had a certain heart to it that other shows haven't duplicated. It was also very much a product of it's time ( Jethro wanting to be a double naught spy ). At the heart of it all was uncle Jed. Ebsen was a simple man who always seemed to be playing himself. Here was a man who could make you laugh with his simple humour and was a damn good dancer to boot. The world is a bit poorer for this. R.I.P. uncle Jed. Weell doggies!

    Truly a sad day.

Man, this one deserves more comments than it's gotten so far.

    And, btw, it's Ebsen.

    Uncle Jed is dead.

    Man.

Yeah I'm surprised more people haven't commented. Didn't any of these people watch TV?

I don't remember seeing this until the late eighties over here, it ran at tea-time and was a huge hit with my mates and me. Uncle Jed was the best thing in it of course, texas gold indeed. Mr. Ebsen was a fine character actor whose face cropped up all over the place. R.I.P
