Just thought of it. Is it me or aren´t dildoes more socially acceptable than sex dolls? Wasn´t womens sexuality supposed to be more tabu than mens?
I think the difference in social acceptibility has less to do with sexuality and more to do with perceived desperation.
While a dildo might be viewed as a stand-in for when an actual person isn't available, it's also viewed as a sex toy that two people might use together. It can have an "Ooh! Aren't we wild and naughty!" appeal.
A sex doll, on the other hand, is hard to see as anything other than a sad substitute for a real partner, or a joke... something that might get a laugh tossed into a swimming pool at a party.
i know a guy who has an inflatable goat......it's a joke i think.
