That sucks-I always dug Converse from back in the Bird and Magic days. That commercial where Magic comes to French Lick is one of the best ever. I still have a pair of black "Weapons" from about 86!

Ugghhh, that's horrible. I may never be able to buy Chuck Taylor's again. Guess its Adidas or Pumas for me.

Sauckony (sp?) . . . most comfortable sneakers ever

anyway, if the CTatlors change at all then you bet the vintage ones will be collector's items . . . I got two pair of black high tops . . ."Made In The USA"

Is Etonic still around? I had a cool pair of "Dream Supremes" back in the day.

And Clyde Drexler endorsed Avias, too.

Maybe Karl Malone wearing LA Gear those years ago was prophetic!

Ah, the Siren song of obscure sneakers.

Fellowship- does New Balance still do width sizing? That's actually a useful feature. The Reebok "Pump" that I saved $190 in paper route money in junior high to buy was not.

The Chuck Taylors might get the axe...completely...you never know.

    As for the best shoes...

    for running: Asics

    for tennis: Wilson or Adidas

    Nike stuff...bleh.

Nikes are fine if you have feet like a bird, or you're some skinny ass dude. My 11s are too wide to fit them. I've never been able to wear the damn things.

    Been happy with Reeboks.

NB for running (not that I do much of that these days)

I have given up on what is Kosher to buy when it comes to shoes.

Here is your answer Anders, a nice pair of slip on hoofs...feel the quality & craftmanship..you can tell their " Kosher " just by looking at them !

Any more ruminating on AI and you'll be fit for roasting! haha

Anyway, I like my runners cheap, since they're supposed to be replaced every 2-3 months anyway, though I tend to keep them much longer than that.

Usually, I head over to the flea market and pick up some grey market imports straight from malaysia for 40-50 bucks (canadian) Though I can't always find my size, so when I do, sometimes I pick up two pair.

Anyone know if Nike is keeping the Converse brand around or if it's being toasted completely.

Nike usually has the best looking but not very comfortable shoes. As previously mentioned, if you have skinny girly feet, don't bother. Costs are higher than others, I'm assumming to pay for all the marketing they put into their products.

Best shoes for running? Asics, New Balance, and Saucony.

But they all could really use a product designer. Some of their offerings are just butt ugly.

Nike boutght Converse *because* of the Chuck Taylor. They wanted a hip urban trendy shoe that was "real". Now they have the Chuck.

I wear New Balance exclusively anyway. Best shoes EVER.

Converse never did it for me so I'm kinda glad that they merged. However, despite the deal Nike got, I really don't think that it was one of their best decisions.

Wow that IS expensive by Oz standards. we can get sneakers for as little as $15.... and that is mainstream..

Guess its got something to do with Malaysia being so close.
