Help - Unlocking Folders in OSX!

Please help. Whilst trying to install software earlier, somehow my deskstop folder and user library folder in OSX 10.2.4 for locked. Argh. I can't unlock them as the button in get info is greyed out. I can't do anything. Tried booting into OS9 but they were just normal folders - nothing I could do as they weren't even locked in OS9.

Please rely ASAP!

Can you click on the lock button right beside the greyed out owner drop down menu? Enter your admin password, and change to your username.

I hope I've understood you correctly. This is what you mean, right?

Boot off the install CD and run Repair Permissions in DIsk Utility. Perhaps that will set things right.

Thanks for the replies. I can press that button, but the locked checkbox is still greyed out. I'll try that CD thing later thanks.
