What is the most recent (stable) release of the Linux kernel? I am studying a Linux+ book, which may be out-dated, so I want to verify the kernel versions it refers to.

    kernel.org is the place to check. 2.4 i think.

    (approximately) 2.4.20

    However, 2.6 is almost here, and it's quite different in some respects.
