FOR SALE - iSight
My friends, a great opportunity awaits you. Now is your chance to get a great piece of murbot Owned Apple hardware. Be the envy of your friends! Fresh from the Silver Desk Of Rotating Apple Hardware!
I am selling my iSight. I've had it for a couple of weeks, video chatted once with it, and audio chatted a half dozen times. I feel badly for it, just sitting there unused. It's not the camera's fault I'm not popular or good looking enough to have a few dozen camera-toting people in my buddy list. Well, there is FellowshipChurchiBook, but he kind of scares me a little bit.
Actually, I never even removed the little protective strip from the adhesive on the bottom of the camera mount, I taped it on with a piece of double sided tape. So you don't have to worry about the mount's adhesive being worn and ripped off - it'll stick to your display like new. This is the CRT/eMac mount, the LCD and iBook/PowerBook mounts haven't been touched.
So anyway, I'm not sure what to ask for this. It's $149 new, and this is about as close to new as you can get. I don't know. If you're interested, make me an offer and we'll see how it goes. Comes with all accessories and documentation, and in the original packaging.
If someone from here buys it, I'll include an autographed photo of me using the iSight. Instant collectors item!!

Sell it, baby...work it! THAT'S how to get those phones lighting up!
"The Murbot Collection...coming this fall to a store near you!"
Buddy, you're practically a legend, did you know that? I mean, you're a verb ("yeah, I had to murbot that Studio Display on eBay..."). You're the focus of numerous betting pools ("I'm laying 7-to-1 the 'bot buys a G5 and sells it to buy an iPod before Halloween..."). And anytime Apple releases new hardware, the first thing I hear around these forums (besides the obligatory "Apple SUX...I'm going to buy a PC...") is "hey, has Murbot ordered one yet?"
Freak.

TOTALLY! I can see it, clear as day.
Keep your autographed picture, murbot.

Wow. He drives a hard bargain!
Well, there's the obvious porno application. Oh, is that what you are implying with the autographed photo?! Im soooo naive. Like I said, Im 50.
it's a shame you have no one you want to see. or maybe you're lucky and always surrounded by all the people you love

Yeah, I can't imagine why the hell Id want someone to see me when I chat/talk long distance. Okay, Im 50 years old but still. Even when I was 11 and reading the Weekly Reader (Hey, Weekly Reader, we got it once a month at the most) and they talked about the video phones of the future I thought, "Why"? There's a reason why they are still not here and its not just the technology.

I just gave my sister some money to buy an iSight. We used it last night. I'm in Germany, and she's in Michigan. My niece and nephew were pretty excited about it, although I think I woke up my wife by speaking a bit loudly (dang this concept of time zones).
My parents visit my sister's family on certain weekends. We're planning to surprise them next time they're there.
I guess I'll have to wait for the pr0n applications until later.
I'm really, really close to being 40.
I'm not really sure that's a good thing though... heh heh
Actually, my wife was bugging me the other day to get a new desk for my office. I instantly had an eBay auction in my mind where I post pics of my last 20 setups showing all the desk has gone through. "You can own the most famous desk in geek setup photo posting history!"
As for the fine offers made thus far... I'm afraid I'll try and wait a bit. I was hoping to get more than $20. Thanks Jon.
Leonis - I am not gay, quit asking, go buy your own lipstick. Sorry.
applenut
i'd like to video chat with my family while at college.

I tried to post earlier but hit the back button I think.
Anyway, I am lucky enough to work in a brothel so I am surrounded by people I love. I don't love them all at once but I take turns loving them. Im comp'ed since I work there.
You KNOW I'm just kidding.
Originally I should have said I didnt see the appeal of routine video chatting. For people who are away from home for extended periods, like you and Garden, it would come in handy. But for most people most of the time I don't think it would hold appeal. You know what its like when a video camera swings your way you have to put on a little performance. That would get old. I just want to talk and not have to worry about how I look. Leonis, for example, would have to put on lipstick whenever he received and instant message.
Like the flower power iMacs, automatic bread makers, and the Ronco rotisserie thing--sound fun at first but become tiresome. Again, there would be exceptions. But I dont think Apple will sell a lot of 'em.
how about the one in this thread
iSight = new interface model
