repair permissions weirdness ...

i recently moved my wife's pb over to osx 10.2.6 - clean install of 10.2 + updates.

i also copied some files (music, pics, etc.) from my pb to hers using mine in target disc mode.

after installing some programms on my wife's pb i ran disc utility to repair permissions. however, instead of the usual few textlines showing up in the "output window", suddenly there was a whole sh*tload of text that continuously poured into the window at high speed.

i have repaired disc permissions before and i have never seen this amount of text and i have never seen it going thru every single app/iapp and saying "owner and group not corrected. reason operation not permitted"

is this something i should worry about?

Try booting off the OSX install CD and using the Disk Utility on it.

or if you dont wanna log out and boot with the osx cd, just quit all running programms start the terminal and enter the following line:

    sudo diskutil repairPermissions /

so you dont have to log out and you have the same effect and it is faster )) your choice.. hehe

This happens when Disk Utility looses it permissions, and it no longer has the permission to fix the permissions.
