next Powerbooks to use cPad with Ink well?

    I tried this out and really hated it. It was not for me. It is very awkward and there is not enough room to write in. I guess it will still appeal to some though. <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" />

    yes, but notice who makes the laptop.... toshiba. the same makers of the hard drive in the ipod.

    Blech. Being constrained to writing in a little area under the keyboard while the whole screen is begging to be scribbled on just seems... wrong.

    Really doesnt look all that Intuitive in design, looks to small actually.

    Bah. The Toshiba thing is all tricked up, and involves a new purchase. My mother had a trackpad add-on for the PC back in 1997 that had a normal trackpad, just like the ones on Apple's laptops today, that included a metal stylus with a small disc connected to a ball-join at the tip. The ball-joint let the tip stay flat against the trackpad as one wrote. It was as if one had a tiny little index finger. All the trackpad needs is a galvanic connection between a few pairs in the pad to identify the tip's coordinates. Normally this connection is provided by skin, but metal can do it, and if it's soft enough metal, it won't scratch the pad.



    The screenshots of InkWell that have already been leaked show "utility gestures" that are obviously PDA type scrawlies. These characters are for file opening, closing, etc. If we were going to be drawing on our screens we'd be clicking on the menus.

    ug, I hope not. I love my Newton, and hate my brother in law's Palm, because of the stupid writing box on the palm. On the newton, you can write or draw anywhere on the screen. that's why it was usefull for me. scetch a map real quick, write the names of landmarks, and directions, and then print it out an give it to someone. my newton got me through college. I can't even use the palm's grafitti crud for more than a few minutes. If I was that interested in writing in a little box, I'd get one of those Wacolm tablets, and tape off a 1"x1" section.



    my vote for full screen writing/drawing ability before I consider inkwell to be a feature, instead of a MS style- Addition that No One Uses(tm).
