Think wireless. Think Bluetooth. (Think multi-function mouse - perhaps) . Enough said. Only problem this is more like early 2003 so some surprise to see it at NY.
I can confirm the old keyboard is EOL in the UK and elsewhere.
If the Apple Pro Keyboard goes wireless, then we lose a USB port all of a sudden. A wireless keyboard might be a good option, but it doesn't explain why the current keyboard would be discontinued.
Oh and I want to connect my high speed FireWire devices, ethernet, displays, USB junk, audio gear and my phone line right to the keyboard. Oh and I would want to add my PCI devices to the keyboard aswell, so I can reach behind them easily. Adding a processor and HD to the keyboard would be minor issues at this point. Uhm, now exactly _what_ would I want BlueTooth in my keyboard for?
Whatever. Just throw it in already!
Man! that keyboard is gonna be FAT! <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" />
I think I'm the only person who is happy with the current keyboard. Keep it coming Apple! Don't listen to these people! <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" /> <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" />

Is that why the G4 iMac has THREE usb ports on the back?
first off most wireless keyboards and mice are crap. my roomate has one on his new DuLL, it works half of the time. if apple into'd a wireless K/M id thow it in the trash when i opened the box to get to the p-mac below.
the white keyboard sucks. i repeat the white keyboard sucks, mabey apple should make the next one an off-white kind of grey... oh and the white mouse lacks all the style the black one brings to a desk, with the red light and all. if the black keyboard goes, mine will stay right where it is, USB 2.0 or not.
on a positive note, id like to see a programmable keypad that had say 20 or so keys (F1-F12 isnt enough). photoshopers should dig the idea of having a crazy amount of macro keys available for their every whim.
my opinions aside i submit for your contemplation, built in bluetooth, hand-writting recognition in 10.2, and if apple actually made a K/M that pleased everyone all those third party products would go the way of the dodo (thats a big IF, by the way).

I don't know about keyboards, since I've never used a wireless one, but my wireless optical mouse is great.
I thought I saw something the other day about Apple releasing a new FCP keyboard. I think it was a "Give your mouse a break" promotion. Maybe it was just in the UK?
Oh god no more white please! It's very ugly to me. My iPod looks very dirty so I guess the keyboard will too eventually. Maybe I'm just a dirty kid after all.
I don't want a new keyboard, what I want is the Functions keys back as in OS 9. Will it be back in Jaguar?
Apple brought us the ADC, which hasn't been popular, but what we do need is a new universal keyboard connector.
This new connector would provide both USB and Firewire to the keyboard. Anyone who has a PM and a DV camcorder would really benifit from having both USB and Firewire ports available on the desk top. Getting down on ones hands and knees to plug the cable in at the back of the machine just isn't friendly.
A few hot keys wouldn't go a miss and how about a pull-out inkwell pad?
I want my Power key back!! It is one of the best buttons ever put on a keyboard, and just one other thing to gloat about to your PC friends. Oh, and does anyone else find it to be a problem that when the Pro keyboard is right infront of the G4 iMac it gets in the way of an ejecting CD drive. I don't think a thinner keyboard is the way to fix this, but it sure seems like a blatent design flaw (of the iMac).
Apple will go for simplicity, so I don't see a pull-out Inkwell pad. Maybe a separate peripheral as a Pro option? Speaking of Inkwell, I posted earlier of my bewilderment at Apple's failure to introduce an Ink SDK. I think I get it now. Not to go off topic, but I think 10.2 could have a Cocoa update which throws in Ink support as yet another "freebie." Hey, if Ink is good enough, you might not need a keyboard or mouse at all. As for functions, remember shortcut strokes in Palm OS? I'm just speculating, but perhaps a tablet is feasible after all...
As for this supposed "iMac design flaw," I find nothing wrong. When the new iMac "sticks out its tongue" (I swear, this is going to become a popular term, kinda like Windows 95 making the term "X-out the window" common usage) the tray opens out above the keyboard, not into it. I see no problem with this. Long live Ive! Another masterpiece!

i've heard bad things about the precision of wireless keyboards and mice...anything released must be as good as their "cabled" brothers and sistas.

You will probably need one after you wear down your current one from too many posts</strong><hr></blockquote>
Good point
Repeat this mantra whenever delusional symptoms recur.
