"Smart albums" with iPhoto2?

Does there exist functionality in iPhoto2 akin to that in iTunes where you can create a virtual album (a la the smart playlists in iTunes) based on some set of properties? I don't see an easy way to browse pictures by date short of opening my entire library and sorting by date. I see that they're stored on disk that way, but that organization doesn't seem to make it into iPhoto.

    Currently it doesn't have this feature but it shouldn't be that hard to add since iPhoto already has the ability to sort via keywords and also has live searching. I'm hoping that iPhoto 3 brings the interface up to the refined level of iTunes and brings the search field to the main UI and gets it out of that damn panel.
