Just got my new G5!

I just got my G5 1.8 on September 4th, and I haven't been able to post because I have been looking at it for the last two days. I'm serious. I just can't pry my eyes off the thing. Literally. The keyboard is great, (Shut up about it, dammit!), and it is fast. I mean, [I]fast[I] . Scaling windows is very smooth, even in iTunes. And it boots very quickly.

I just can't get over how cool it is.

Photos coming soon!

How cool is it? Can you stick a thermometer right next to the processor/heatsink and tell us?

How fast can a keyboard be?

My new G5 also just arrived. You can check out my pics of its birth at:

    My .Mac homepage.

I'm still getting it set up. But I love it. It's the most kick ass machine I've ever laid eyes on.

Looks nice, but putting the CPU so the sun hits it may not be a great idea?

Those are great shots, Kirkland. One of my favorite things to view are these cool, step-by-step "unveilings" of people's new Macs!

When I get my PowerBook/iBook/Etch-A-Sketch here shortly, I'll be sure to do the same and add it to the mix of cool unveilings.

I'm also interested in knowing what monitor that is. Looks nice, but I suspect it's a cheap brand. Tough to afford an Apple Display, so I've been looking at the formac. Little cheaper and a nice look.

With everyone here posting their pics of their new G5's, it becoming apparent that Apple needs to update their displays.

Not that the old ones are bad, but a stainless steel thin bevelled cheese grated textured 17" widescreen display would look awesome beside that G5!

    Here come the photos:

    So uncluttered.

This is the strip of ports (notice the distinctly BLUE light)

    My new setup:

And, last but not least, my $3000 purchase with me in the Applestore.

I hope you enjoyed those, but keep in mind that photos do no justice.

I got it at Staples for $130. It's by Z-line, and as far as I can tell, it's pretty good quality.

    Look at it here: http://www.staples.com/Catalog/Brows...e=1&Sku=466693

I mainly bought it because it had punched holes that matched the G5 wonderfully.

My monitor is a Daewoo 19" LCD. I got if (with 3 rebates..damn them) for $420! It's nice. Flat, no dead pixels, silver (grin) and it has (crappy) speakers. It runs normally at 1280x1024. I like it. Cant beat it for the price.

I also have a Fuiji 1.3 MP camera (pretty basic), an iPod, Harmon Kardon iSub (below) and SoundSticks, and an external FireWire 400 drive (80 GB, 7200 rpm, ATA/133, also below). Also shown is a pair of Logitech USB 200 headset for games (stereo + mic). The mouse is a Logitech Mouseman dual sensor 4 button + wheel mouse.

I normally NEVER have the blinds open, so the sun will not hurt my G5. The window faces North. It's on the 3rd floor. Keeps the glare off my LCD when I am playing games during the day!

Aluminum likes heat, so that's a good idea not to keep the blinds open when running the G5. The fans would be going full speed resulting in a slowdown of the processor (according to articles I've read).

I don't think angelfire allows for direct image linking.

Geocities does but you have to rename the files as .txt (stupid Yahoo)
