Why isn't my computer logging Kernel Panics?

Alright... I've just had my fifth kernel panic in a month. I have an inkling that it's my Windows sharing that's doing it, but nothing is getting recorded in my panic.log file. The two kernel panics I had previous to this month (about a year ago) are still recorded there, but these new ones aren't getting recorded.

I would be nice to see the backtrace to get a feel for why my system is freezing up... Is there some pref that got changed with a newer version of OS X? My Console.app pref is still set to record crashes...

Any ideas? Does OS X always have the 'composure' to write a panic.log file? I mean, if it's really bad I would suppose the system might not be able to write the file.

Thanks all.

Have you got crash logging in the Console turned on?

I am guessing you have if the some are being registered, but have a look there.

Unfortunately, yes, it is quite possible for the panic to occur and prevent the log from writing to memory. This is one of the drawbacks to showing a "friendly" message like it does now.
