Does anyone forsee Apple's display lineup being changed or revised at MWNY02 or will we still have the 15"/17"/22"/23" range?

Very possible, they all need to receive the shinny chrome Apple logo and have less screws on the back, like the ACD23. Slightly higher quality displays are a probable part of this update as well. Higher levels of brightness and contrast I believe. Two shady/longstanding rumors include the addition of a 19" model and the removal of the 15" model.

It seems that it would be logical to discontinue the 22" model. 17", 19", 23"

The 22" and 23" seem too close together in size.

But removing the 15" is a bad idea, unless the price on the 17" is reduced drastically. They need to have an affordable option. Although I guess they can tell people who are interested in cheaper things to get an eMac or iMac.

The ACD22 and the ACHDD23 are close in size, yes, but not in resolution. The 22 has 1600x1024 resolution, while the 23 has 1920x1200, which is a huge difference. Go to an Apple store and compare. If they removed the 22 it would leave a gap between the $999 17 and teh $3499 23. the 22 fits nicely at $2499 (I think I have those right).

I do, however, agree with keeping the 15, but would like a price drop on both it and the 17, to 399 and 799 respectively. Dreaming probably, but it would help sales, and open up a path to a 19 for ~1399

Recall that the 22" ACD debuted with a gravity-well-inducing price of $3999. And people bought them!

Perhaps, if 23" ACD HD has also been a success, production for the ACD HD has been ramped up and replace the 22" ACD for the ACD's current price.

This would actually be disappointing for me since I would buy a ACD if the price fell further to $1999.

    [Edit] I agree about dropping the 15". We'd be left with 17", 22" and 23"!? A bit strange. Now, 17", 19" and 23". That'd be a nice range.

whatever size displays they go with, I would like to see them add an iMac style arm to improve ergonomics of their display line.

Hmm...interesting idea, but highly improbable. Have you seen the size of the 23" display?

The current design is actually quite smart and simple. Just push it and it adjusts rather easily. Sure it can't swivel like the iMac but you're going to need to add a base to accomplish that. And a heavy one at that.

You forgot about the 19", they could drop the 22" and replace it with a 19" and would have no real gap.

    I agree; a lineup of 15", 17", 19" & 23" would round out the choices quite nicely...

One thing I would love to see Apple do is move ALL of their LCDs over to widescreen format... But the only spanner in the cogs that I see with this would be the iBook...

Yes, I am not including the eMac in this, since I feel (once pricing goes down...) Apple could move away from CRTs altogether... We all know that Steve would prefer that...!

What I really want to see though, is a kick-arse Apple/nVidia OpenGL card with dual ADC ports! And I am not talking about a new GeForce4/GeForce5... I am talking about a professional-level (dual GPUs & at least 256MB of memory) OpenGL card for running Maya on dual Apple Cinema HD Displays...!

    Cheers!

I agree with the 15" 17" 19" and 23", that would be great. But only if it means price drops on the 15" and 17"(of course).

I think that the idea of 15" 17" 19" 23" and possibly the 22" displays is bad. Apple has a relatively small market for thier LCD displays due to the fact that they are ACD displays. Most aftermarket cards do not support them without adapters, and the only computers that take advantage of the Apple branded monitor are their Towers. Therefore this product line is bloated.

For a low end Apple should keep the 15", possibly boosting the resolution. Keeping the 17" with a price drop is a good idea, or replacing it with the 19" (wide screen?). and finally having the 22" or 23" display.

Another possibility, if Apple could cut the price to $499, would be to have the 17" as a bottom line. Add a 19 or 20" wide screen, and keep the 23 " as a high end.
