If so, then this is the monitor for you. 40" and 1280x768 resolution ( ) Slight overkill? Maybe...

seriously though, who needs such a big screen with such "low" resolution?

edit: damn smilie social engineering...

By the time you'd sat back far enough so that you weren't turning your head to see from one side of the screen to the other, you'd be better off buying a 20".

I can't see good use for these (as strictly a computer monitor) other than the arrival/departure displays at airports and for presentation/advertising purposes.

i LOVE those things...I've wanted one since I was little...imagine DVDs on that. The pixel response is probably sucky, though.

But poor lonely boys would get the mistaken impression that parts of the female anatomy are squarish.

It's just an LCD display designed for use with a HD tuner as one example.

Most LCD and plasma HD displays (+ tuners) are around that resolution. Some are even 1024x1024 with non-square pixels among other odd resolutions.

Just check out Sonystyle.com, or Gateway's plasma HDTV monitor, or any LCD HDTV display for that matter.

I figured that's what it is, but what's revolutionary about a 40" HDTV? What confused me was that they refer to it as a monitor as opposed to display.

when they say monitor, they are refering to the fact that it has no tuner, just a sh!tload of inputs.

Parr - to small for good home cinema. I'll stick to my 2 meter wide projection screen, and six speaker setup :-)
