Maybe the G5 is the G4 and the G5

Hmmmm.... maybe the 'G5' will debut with a G4-ish processor at its core (being a modular architecture and such) and scale from 1.2ghz tops at debut to 1.4ghz six months from debut. Then a full year after the 'G5's debut the core will be switched over to a Power4-ish processor core which starts at 1.6ghz and goes to the 2ghz range. If they did this they could release the G5 and a new mobo architecture now rather than waiting for the 'real G5 core' which might not be ready for awhile yet.
