I love the Blue and White case. It's one of the best looking designs for a computer of all time. It's singular and powerful... I'd go so far to say that it and the iMac are two of the best designs of the 1990's of any product.
Personally I dont care how the case looks its how if functions i play around with the innards of my computer all the time swapping hard drives and RAM I have a dark blue and gray El capitan for looks I like this the best of all but for functionallity it can`t be beat. This compared to my beige g3 ha.. its a hardware hackers dream come true. Now if only I had the guts to overclock my tower too hmm....
'I want to see less plastic in apple's designs. Plastic is cheezy. I have my blue and white sitting beside my lian-li pc65. Guess which one looks classier, more professional and more capable?'
You've got to be kidding. The pc65 looks classy? It looks like an ugly PC-box, which you saw in the eighties already. What is classy about it? A blind man made the design of that.
I honestly couldn't care less about a new case. The case we have now looks good and is functional. Maybe we should focus more on whats on the inside not the design of the fan...

So true, but El Cap could be refined with internal improvements such as 2 5.25 bays and a sound reduction program. But those things should also come with a major mobo update.
I know, I know, I know, I shouldn't be wandering around the spymac forums but this cropped up and seems to have a number of features of the supposed new case.
Notice that this seems to be the right hand side of the case, but there is no latch, it also seems to have a smaller ,chrome, Apple logo on the side, a white speaker, and the case definately seems to be white, or at least lighter.
It is *not* white, I think it isn't even lighter. Even though it does seem to be the right side and the latch seems to be missing, the fact that the leaf of the Apple logo is missing, could mean that the quality of the image is so bad that smaller details won't show up at all!
"This just in: In a bid to recapture the higher education market, Apple is designing an ivory tower!"
...white...with...chrome highlights. Apple logo...on the carry handles...an accent here or there... Bit of lyposuction on the sides...(I mean...trim a bit of fat off the sides of the current/old model...)

The average pc case is a piece of plastic crap, with steel inside. Actually, that's exactly what Apple's towers are. Pieces of plastic crap with steel chasis.
The design of Apple's cases are great. The latch is invaluable, but that can be applied to any case without keeping the El Capitan style. It seems Apple only knows how to work with plastic. They could take a full aluminum case and make it look good with Apple's quality and latch. I'm just expecting another tower completely enveloped in plastic.
NO WHITE! I'd prefer they don't change it rather than making it white. If they do, I'll be switching the outside panels with my old 1st generation G4 graphite.
Has anyone been to the REAL El Capitan in Yosemite?
It's darker in color than the Powermac, quite a bit larger in size, and though there is very little that can be described as high-tech, it can be the source of much enjoyment.
If they go with snow-white Powermacs that are more conical in shape, they could call them "Mt. Everest"

But please don't claim they spent any real time *designing* the thing. It's no better than any other PC case out there except that it lacks paint.
I think it's hard to judge the current powermac case because, well, we've had it for so long.
It's just gettin' old.
I cannot think of any other case that I have had less problems with.
All of the PC cases I've worked with were hell.
And the old Mac cases!
The 6500, the old desktop G3, the original G3 tower, the iMac, the Cube, etc etc
None were as easy to install, move, repair, etc as the El Capitan cases have been.
Granted, the case is a little tipsy sometimes, it's overly curvy, and well, it's big and heavy.
But seriously - it's 4 years old.
And it's still the easiest case to work with out there. Period.
Looks are important, but for me - the easy access to the innards and the greatly decreased chance of sharp corners are also very important.
I'd love a redesigned version of this case.
Some pretty new cover, a revised shape with less curve and plastic mass, a more efficient use of space, and of course, maybe another large 5" bay.
But keep that swinging door!

Anyway I just thought i would bring it up.
still looks like a plasic bag to me.
