I think he was referring to the ZIP code, not the fact that the address is in Indiana.
Jonathan (Brisby), I wasn't attacking you, simply stating what has already been picked up and expanded upon by others....basically, never cut your own throat.
You shouldn't have taken it personally, it wasn't an attack on you. Stick around here long enough and you'll develop a thicker skin laddie-o!
As always, Apple is just trying to clear out inventory. Powermac sales are down and they need something to move them. And it is not a given that new powermacs will be out after this promo is over....in the past, Apple has followed up promos with new promos, or new models. It really doesn't mean anything.
I'm also inclined to believe the possibility of Apple announcing mid-August availability of new machines at MWNY with Jaguar pre-installed. CNET says Apple is ahead of schedule with Jaguar development. It makes no sense to delay its release to fit in with Apple Expo Paris and Seybolds SF.
Unless Jaguar will be ready for MWNY...and Apple is just assuming most of the old Power Mac G4s will be gone by mid-August...

Often, Steve introduces products that will be available weeks after MacWorld (the original iBooks come to mind).
Also, isn't a new OS software release scheduled for mid-August.
I expect the new PowerMacs will ship with the new software release on Aug. 12. Until then, Apple is offering incentives to get rid of current stock.
Makes sense.
