"iMage iPod" program?,...

I called 1-800-myapple last week to inquire when my BTO 2.0Gz G5 would ship. After first hearing the monotone female voice ("Please Press...",) i went thru the motions to reach the appropiate menu ("If you want to inquiry about a particular order, please press #4",) so i punch #4,...

...And i heard the following recording: "Thank you for inquiring about the IMAGE IPOD program. A Specialist will be with you shortly."

Just in case it was a fluke, or just a line about normal iPods, i tried dialing it two more times, getting the same result (""Image iPod Program," ) while being redirected to the normal menu on the fourth try,...

Could this be a New iPod, or just an accesory to transform your 3G iPod into one that handles Multimedia?,...

I did wait on the line on the first one (Curiosity ,) but while the rest of the menu gave you a recorded notice of how long you have to wait, this one just keep repeating the message every so often,...

...Plus, what would I have said?.

"My iMage iPod screen always flickers and I can't see whole movies on it! Can you help me with that?"

Then, guess what the support guy would have said!...

I can't replicate this. Can you give me the exact numbers and orders you are dialing. The operator said she wasn't aware of such a recording....

Allright,...First dialed 1-800-MYAPPLE,...On first menu prompt, Monotone female voice instructs me for language option, i pressed #1 for "english." On the second menu prompt, of the six choices offered, i entered #4, to inquiry about an existing order (My 2.0 G5.) Next menu selection went to #3, to inquire about my apple store purchase...

Now is when the anomaly kicked in. On the fourth menu selection, you have to choices: #1 to find out about your order online, or #2, to speak to a live representative. Pressing #2 that day gave the message about the iMage iPod program, which, like I wrote before, i was able to listen to that same message three more times before the fourth selection (Redialing all over again) sent me to a live person. Trying it again today just gives me the live person choice.\

OK, am I the only one who thinks you're all reading into this a little bit too much? Didn't Apple have some kind of program for re-imaging (as in, re-installing the software back to factory defaults or something) iPods when they got screwed up?

Either that or something where they can "image" (again referring to replacing software as in a "disc image") the iPod to PC even when it was bought as a Mac version or vice versa?

Or were you just hearing what you wanted to hear?

    i-Mage sounds pretty dumb too.

so, can anyone else reproduce this?

I just replicated it. About 2 minutes ago. Followed the same procedure and button pushes, and got a recording about the iMage iPod as well. Unfortunately it is after business hours, and nobody was there to field my phone call

Apple was selling (or perhaps still is) iPods with special graphics etched on the back. I don't think these were for sale directly from Apple's site. You had to link over from another site like "Madonna.com" or others. But I'm pretty sure one of the offerings was for a Madonna logo on the back of an iPod.

This sounds like the "Image iPod" program.

It *used* to be here (http://www.apple.com/promo/ipod/madonna.html) but it stopped as of JANUARY this year. (so it makes me wonder if this isn't something else)

Let's see, the Mage is that guy in Warcraft II who has various spells. So the iMage is software for the iPod that tells you how to spell various words!
