Recommendations for a better Classic mail client needed

My parents currently use Outlook 5.06 on the trusty 6400, and all was (relatively) well, until the arrival of The Spam of Death. The Spam of Death crashes the Mac hard when it's even selected.



Any suggestions on how to get Outlook to behave or recommendations for a better mail client (for Mac OS 8/9) would be appreciated.
