Are you ****ing kidding? What the hell's wrong with you?
No I have crossed the threshold of chill. I just don't get all bent out of shape because a person blurts some stupid words. Again poor choices of words is something people of all sorts participate in no matter race, sex, income level, religion, social status, or political party. We all say stupid things on occasion not that that is good but it is just the way it is. When we do I simply advocate that society have some balance and be bigger than the ill conceived words.
If Rush had said these things on his Radio show... no one would have cared... because all his listeners tend to believe and agree with him.
On the otherhand... the other 70% of america.. more or less... doesn't. He says stupid insensitive things ALL the time... maybe it's the pills... who knows... but he says them to his Fans...
He had a national audience of football fans... not his usual dittoheads... and he blew it.

No, no, no. Stop playing games. This is what you said:
Quote:
Shawn you are the one who mentioned boycot ESPN unless they "fire Rush" You get that from your young age where by you naturally are still finding your "ego". When you mature somewhat you will not get your underwear in a wad everytime some person says something you disagree with. You will experience the chill factor some day. Until then you "keeping up appearances" of outrage when a political figure you disagree with makes a stupid remark says more about you than anyone.
giant I had a wink at the end of the post you are worried about directed to Shawn. I have no ill feelings towards Shawn quite the reverse. It was satire which I realize not all grasp.
Shawn had said in a prior post that PC is from the right and he had to "explain" it in about 10 other threads.
Shawn himself also in a prior post said he would boycott ESPN if they did not fire Rush (which he has every right to do by the way) My point was that Shawn is on the one hand saying PC is something from the right while he being on the left is in practice the one enforcing the idea of PC by method of boycott when non PC phrases are said by a host of a show.
When I myself used phrases in my reply to Shawn such as "underwear in a wad" and "ego" that was my satire that I infused into the reply in a Rush like "non PC" context.
The bottom line is simply that I had a wink at the end of the post for a reason and not all understood my humor.
I am sorry for the confusion. I did not intend any ill will towards any member of AI
It is very frightening that people are now fired for making comments that aren't even racist, but question powerful media outlets.
He said the media overhyped McNabb because he's black and the media wants a black Joe Montana.
Is there anything at all in there that is negative about black people? I'm totally lost here.
The only insulted party here are the media outlets. So Jim Rome gets on his show and whines that Rush was being insensitive. Howard Dean and Wesley Clark get pissy (what!?). Rush gets fired.
Absolutely frightening.

The only thing that could come of a "my QB is bettar than yuorz!" argument is carpal tunnel. I'll defer to your superior intelligence and accept that Donovan is my Lord and Savio(u)r.
The only thing that could come of a "my QB is bettar than yuorz!" argument is carpal tunnel. I'll defer to your superior intelligence and accept that Donovan is my Lord and Savio(u)r.
Oh come on, it's much better to discuss QB performance rather than talking about the chattering classes of politics, the political equivalent of the Worldwide Wrestling Federation. Talking about political pundits is like talking about your favorite professional wrestler: they are both not the real thing. They are only pretending to be to make money.
Now at least NFL players are the real thing and have some sincerity to their actions. Oh well, I guess there is the NFL predictions thread, but NFL predictions are barely as good as hurricane predictions...
edit: And didn't I say that I doubt a good QB can carry a bad team? So no, I'm not trying to convince you McNabb is a mighty god.
There are so many things wrong with Rush's statement... uhg.
First off... he's assuming the media wants a QB to do well just because he's black... why? I don't know...
oh right... it's liberal... and damn them for giving anyone undeserved praise!
then he's saying that McNabb is overrated. and basically any credit he gets for being any good is because he's a black quarterback... I guess that means if he was white he wouldn't be getting any attention... which again is perposterous.
RUSH makes so many bogus assumptions and accusations... it's endless.
Now at least NFL players are the real thing and have some sincerity to their actions. Oh well, I guess there is the NFL predictions thread, but NFL predictions are barely as good as hurricane predictions...
Well there are so many factors to what makes a QB "good" and what "good" even means. For Christ's sake people are talking about Tommy Maddox as if he's good. Tommy ****ing Maddox.
When Philly's D isn't holding the team up Donovan falls to shit. And not just not up to his usual level, but to absolute crap.
Brett is falling off, yeah, but he's earned his keep and his decline can be forgiven because he's paid his dues. I wouldn't say the same about McNabb because although he's a good QB he hasn't won a Super Bowl and he isn't the key piece to his teams success.
Quote:
And didn't I say that I doubt a good QB can carry a bad team?
Naturally, but where you see the great QB versus the good QB (or at least better/worse comparing between two) is how the team does with or without him. When the Rams don't skip a beat with Bulger and the Eagles don't skip a beat with Detmer, that tells me that Warner and McNabb are overrated. Not that they aren't good QBs, but that there were other factors propping them up.
Another case is Tom Brady... who the hell is Tom Brady? I have never been impressed with this guy. I was impressed with New England's defense and that's about it.
Bledsoe went to Buffalo and immediately picked that team up and had it playing better.
He said something highly insesitive alot of people didnt like... has nothing to do with quarterbacks... he had a national TV audience... he should of acted liked it. It's not hard to be provacative without being crass or stupid.
So when Michael Moore says something stupid and insensitive and ends up getting slammed for it ... "his right to free speech is taken from him" or some other such nonsense from the knee jerk left.
But when Rush Limbaugh says something stupid and insensitive and ends up getting slammed for it ... boycotts ending in his being fired are the correct course of action?
Seems a tad hypocritical? Any of you people channeling Ashkkkroft?
no one on the panel called him on it, i think this is much ado about nothing. i don't watch american football enough to know whether he's correct or not about the eagles quarterback. i think an apology to mcnabb was maybe in order.....you know like...."i'm sorry you suck.....but i shouldn't have pulled the race card....."
but i do know this the sporting media at large doesn't have enough brains between them to actually conspire about anything, (they have more of a herd mentality) except the conspiracy to keep fútbol from the american masses. (but that's another thread entirely)
I personally am glad that Limbaugh quite . . . we don't need to associate the sport of football with right wing politics by association with its spokesmen . . . . and I am entirely tired of this lying jerk
However, I don't think that his statement was enough to force him out . . . it just revealed what everybody allready knew about Rush: namely that when HE sees McNab he doesn't see a decent, or not so great QB, he sees a Black QB . . . he sees race first, he thinks race first, he's a good old white boy representing a mind set that thankfully will eventually be as antiquated as it should be
In which they allege that Rush is part of an investigation that involves heavy painkillers as a buyer. CNN alleges that he has turned up as a "buyer" but is not a target of the investigation.
One of the causes of rapidly progressive sudden hearing loss is the use of ototoxic drugs. I had looked up the causes for this very rare condition when Rush announced that he had it (a great while back), and essentially they break down into 1) Autoimmune, 2) Ototoxic drugs. Autoimmune or idiopathic (unknown) causes are much more common. Rush probably falls in this category, but:
This is an obscure link, and was not my original source, but it does link the drug Vicodin to permanent hearing loss:
A more serious web search will undoubtedly turn up more. I don't have the time for it.
I don't consider "Vicodin" to be a "heavy painkiller" but it is a very common drug of abuse. It's not a very good opiate painkiller. Most of the lower-strength opiates have about the same effectiveness as aspirin, for pain. I thought it was very unlikely at the time when I first read it that there was any link between Rush and opiate painkillers, but the CNN allegations refreshed my memory somewhat, and the fact that Rush is named as a "buyer" in this investigation jogged my memory. This is very obscure medicine...the number of people who know anything about this disease is very, very, very, very, very small. I recommend taking it with a very serious grain of salt. But the link does exist.
Perhaps more information will be forthcoming.
I find Rush very amusing and I listen to him when I very rarely get the chance, but the two things together make me have doubts.
Rush Limbaugh is a big, fat idiot. Well, less fat than formerly, but still an insufferable blowhard and bully, mired in self-aggrandizing delusion.
The delusions were on full display Wednesday before he decided to play the martyr card and resign from his short-lived gig on ESPN's Sunday NFL Countdown pregame show."

I'd rather talk about college football.
I'm pretty sure Brady has a superbowl ring. And he deserves it.
Never said he didn't have one. Never said he didn't deserve it.
It seems like "roughing the passer" is extended out from the defense to the general public. Be nice to the QB or you're fired!
